By Labor Day, I was going stir-crazy at the house and decided to drive into town for…whatever reason. I ended up leaving the truck at one end and attached Dali to a leash as we navigated the huge crowd. Apparently it was the annual town festival, something that must have been started after I left way back when. I stood in the middle of the cheering crowd, Dali now in my arms to protect him from trampling feet as we watched the floats go by. The designs were pretty good actually, and creative. And then my jaw dropped when I saw the rainbow float and the marchers waving flags and smiling at the crowd. Almost deafening cheers went up from the people around me, making Dali startle. It wasn’t anything like what I’d seen in San Francisco or Atlanta, but it was memorable all the same. Perhaps
