Chapter 4Zev could hold Otis for an eternity, though he kept his back stiff and his head held high. Even though he was standing straight, Zev could rest his chin on top of Otis’s head if he wanted to. It was silly, Otis could take care of himself, but he wanted to protect him. “Don’t you need to eat?” Zev wasn’t sure, but he believed vampires needed to eat every day. They could consume liquid—Otis appeared to like his rum—but it wouldn’t sustain them. They needed blood. “Are you offering?” The snippy tone made Zev grin. He’d never been fed on, and he had no idea what it entailed.
