The Last Lycan King

We traveled through the woods for half the day and as the sun began to set we made camp. There were fifteen of us total. Ten single wolves, the alpha and luna plus three warriors. 

As I transformed from wolf to human and quickly got dressed into sweat pants and a baggy shirt I walked over to were the camp was. I noticed the alpha was starting a fire and people began to emerge from the woods. "Everyone please sit down." The alpha said as the fire started. I sat down and so did everyone else. "I know everyone is excited but I need you to rest because tomorrow we will not stop except to eat lunch. We should arrive at the gathering right before dinner." The alpha said. One of the guys raised his hand. I had never seen him before. "Yes Aiden." 

"Alpha this is my fourth year. What happens if I do not find my mate?" He said. 

"Aiden you will find her. The longest any male has gone without finding there mate is four years. The females always find there mates. You know this." He said. 

"I know alpha I am just antsy that is all." Aiden said. 

"I understand son but you will find her. Now rest of you. Gentleman if you do not find your mate tonight do no worry she just is not old enough. Ladies when you find your mate please come speak to the luna or I and we will help you both figure out where you two would like to live." The alpha said. 

"I am proud to call each of you my pack mates and I am sad to see some of you go. You will always be welcomed into our pack." The Luna said as she handed us each a sandwich, drink and bowl of fruit. We all sat there and ate together. Some people making small talk while others like myself kept silent. Once everyone was done we all headed to our sleeping bags and fell asleep. 

It was dark and cold but I felt at peace. "So you are back?" The male voice I recognized as Tristan.  I turned around and I felt my wolf give me her sight. I could see him Tristan standing there. 

"So I am dreaming again." I said and he began to laugh. 

"Oh honey I have no clue what the hell is going on but I can tell you I am real." He said as he took a drink out of some bottle. I could see the out line of him walking over to a wall and he lit something and then there was light. My eyes began to focus and he looked like a mess. His hair was a mess and he had facial hair. He had bags under his eyes and his shirt was unbuttoned. 

"So you don't look to good." 

"You could say that." he said as he sat down on the bed near the light he lit. "So were have you been?" 

I walked closer to him. "I was at the hospital and once I was healed I left with my alpha, luna and thirteen others to go to the gathering." He patted the bed and I sat down. 

"So what is the gathering?" I leaned back on the bed and so did he. This was the first time since my dad passed away that I was in bed with a male. 

"Well when the wolves and witches came to Haven the Moon Goddess appeared. She created a place she called the palace of gatherings. When a wolf and witch turn sixteen they can find there mate but if they do not find there mate int here pack then once a year all the single males and females go to the gathering. All the females find there mates." He growled and i just looked at him. His eyes were yellow. "Ok then. Well some males have to wait up to four years." 

"So you are on your way to find your mate?" He said. His eyes were back to normal. 

"Ya. DO you have a mate?"

"No. We have not had mates since the purge." 

"Oh I am sorry. Did you guys try to make it to Haven?" 

"From what my dad told me the group of witches and Lycans that were making there way to portal got ambushed. Many lives were lost but those who got away found caves to live in." 

"The Lycans died." I said and he began to laugh. 

"Oh sweetheart the Lycans our still around. I am one." He said as he got close to my face and then kissed my neck. I pulled back very quickly and fell on the floor. 

I gasped for air and sat up very quickly. I looked around and I was in the woods again. Everyone was sleeping and the fire that once burned with life was now slowly dying. I got up and walked over to the fire and sat down. I watched the flames. 

I'm not sure how long I was sitting there but before I knew it someone was sitting next to me. I looked over and it was Aiden. "hey." he said. 

"Hey." 

"So why are you up?" I asked. 

"I am just stressed out. I have waited four years for her and now I am afraid to meet her but even more afraid she won't be there." 

"I am sure she will be perfect and you will fall in love with her. She will be there don't you worry." I said with a smile. 

"Ya you are right. So what has you up at this hour." 

"Just a dream." 

"Want to talk about it?" 

"Yesterday was my sixteenth birthday and I went to school and passed out. I felt funny. Well while I was out I saw the most beautiful man I had ever seen. Apparently we were in a cave in the human realm and before I could ask any more questions I woke up in the hospital. Well when I fell asleep I was back in the cave and we were talking and I found out he is a lycan and they were trying to get to a portal but they were ambushed. And now I can't help but wonder if people were left behind." I said as I looked at the fire again. I felt his hand touch my shoulder. 

"It is possible some people were left behind. It was a war. But do you think these dreams our real?" 

I looked at him. "Aiden I am not sure."
