Chapter 12: Revenge

Barret sucked in a sharp breath and stared at the angry red marks.   "So I want to find some way to retaliate," Joe continued in anger. “I want to pound that bastard’s face to a pulp...” Barret raised his eyebrows and looked at Joe. “What are you looking at? You think I am joking?” Joe replied peeved at Barret’s expression. "No, you misunderstood me, master. I just hope you can think big, and don’t care too much about such trivial things, because you will face even more complicated things in the future. You cannot let these trivial matters anger you. Controlling emotion is a compulsory course for successful people..." Barret said patiently, but Joe could not listen to him. The shame of his past was vivid; he was unable to take revenge at that time, and could only suffer the humiliation, but now he had the ability. Of course, he would teach Daniel a lesson. "Okay, don't tell me these things, Barret. Just tell me whether you will help me or not?" Barret nodded without hesitation. "Of course, I will help you. No matter what happens, I am your most trustworthy friend." Seeing Barret's sincere gaze, Joe felt moved. No one had ever really cared about him before. When he entered the Andrew Family, Nicole did not treat him as a man at all. Joseph seemed to be good to him, but there was always a sense of distance, maybe it was due to his age. As for the other servants, they were probably influenced by Nicole and treated him coldly. Only Barret really regarded him as his "master" and friend. "Thank you, Barret. You are the first true friend I have ever met in my life...." Hearing that, Barret gave Joe a very warm look. "I will always be your good friend, master" "Thank you." "You're welcome. Would you tell me briefly about the grievances between you and Daniel?" Joe became angry again at Daniel’s name. "Rules don’t apply to this bastard. Because he had so many allies and connections, he robbed my territory on Danforth Street. I went to talk to him, but he beat me up and gave me these scars,” Joe shuddered as he spoke. “He also threatened me that he would beat me every time he saw me. I was scared that I did not even go out to work for a long time." Barret was confused as he listened to Joe’s rather sad past. "Master, so you were on the street before? Demanding protection fees on Danforth Street, and then Daniel took your site?" Joe smiled embarrassingly. "It's not demanding protection fees. It's picking up trash." Barret was even more confused. "Picking up rubbish? Then what did you mean by grabbing territory on Danforth Street?" "Just taking the trash cans back on Danforth Street. There are dozens of trash cans on that street, and there is a lot of trash such as cans and beverage bottles, which can sell for a lot of money these days." Barret was shocked, and it took him all his will to keep calm and emotionless. He was surprised and distressed by hearing that. "Master, you have suffered so much for so many years." "It's nothing Barret. And please don’t tell Nicole. She already thinks I am beneath her. If she knows that I used to pick up rubbish, she will treat me even worse." "Don't worry, master, I will keep this secret for you." "Okay, so what shall we do now?" "Well, master, take rest first and we will go find Daniel tomorrow morning." "But you haven't told me what we will do when we find that asshole." "You will know about it tomorrow. Don’t worry sir, you will be able to vent all your anger." Joe still had some doubts when he saw Barret's confident appearance, but he did not prod further, in case Barret changed his mind. "Okay. But there is one more thing. Don’t let your men hit Daniel too hard, just give him a lesson. It would be troublesome if he dies." Barret smiled with a sigh of relief. It at least proved that Joe was not a despicable villain by wanting Daniel dead. "Don't worry, master, I assure you that there will be no accidents. Tomorrow, the lord will fly abroad early in the morning. When I return from the airport, we will set off." Joe nodded. "Does he often travel?" "No, Lord is only concerned about very important business." "Okay Barret, thank you." "You're welcome. You should rest early today." The next day, 8 o'clock in the morning Joe was sleeping soundly on the sofa in the living room when he was roughly kicked awake. “Oh...” Joe groaned loudly. Even though he had not opened his eyes, he knew it must be Nicole who kicked him. She had stayed at a friend's house all night, and when she came back, she found Joe lying on the sofa in the living room. In her opinion, "abusing" Joe was hilarious. Joe rubbed his sleepy eyes, feeling awfully annoyed. "What are you kicking me for this early?" Nicole glared at him. "You sleep like a dead dog. I thought you were dead." Seeing her disgusting expression, Joe smiled wryly. "Hey, I'm not angry. Beating means love." Before he finished, he received a severe slap on the face. "Then let me give you some more love." "Listen, you are not allowed to step into my room in the future," Nicole continued ignoring Joe’s grimace of pain. "Why? Where will I sleep?" "The utility room." "What? Why?" "Just because you are my husband. Now, get up you filthy animal. You’re ruining the beautiful couches." With one last shove, Nicole strutted out of the room. "b***h, I'll take my revenge one day or the other," Joe cursed in a low voice while glaring at Nicole’s retreating back. While Joe was thinking of ways to take revenge on her, Barret came back. "Master, have breakfast first, and then we will set forth." Once they left home in the Rolls Royce, Joe frowned at the direction that Barret was driving. "Barret, this is not the way to Danforth Street." "Master, I have checked that Daniel is not on Danforth Street, but playing in a club on Aurora Street," Barret replied simply. Joe looked at Barret with wide eyes. “Barret, do you usually stalk people like this?" Barret chuckled. "The Andrew family’s business is huge. Doing business is like fighting a battlefield. We need to know all kinds of information. The Lord trusts me very much and sometimes asks me to check some news. So, I must do what is required." "Well, is anyone coming with us?” Joe asked. He knew even with the two of them, they could not take on Daniel alone. "No matter, it’s just us.” Joe was taken aback. "What? You didn’t find anyone? Don't tell me we are going there alone." "Yes, just the two of us." "s**t, are you kidding me, Barret? Daniel has a lot of friends. We are asking for trouble!"
