Chapter 5: A Bold Idea

1087 Words
He went to the bank instead of going home directly. He did not want to lose everything by keeping it in his home. After depositing the money in the bank, he felt that his life had suddenly become brighter. In his opinion, the dark moments in his life were completely gone, and there was only infinite light in the future. It was like the saying, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, if Joe had known what would happen next, he would laugh at his innocence at the moment. In the study, the conversation between Joseph and Barret was not over yet. "They are so much alike." "Yes, my Lord, to be honest, I was stunned when I first saw him. He looks exactly the same as the Master when he was young. They even have the same voice." Joseph nodded. "The Master has been dead for a whole year. Recently I have always dreamed of him when he was a child. Perhaps it is fate to have met this boy now." "My Lord, I have a bold idea." "What is it?" "Please do not be angry about what I am going to say." "Go ahead. Why are you getting so fussy? " "Could this boy be the Master's…illegitimate son?" Joseph was surprised at Barret’s suggestion. As the only son of Joseph and the only heir of the Andrew family, Hunter Andrew had doted from the moment he was born. His superior family background and excessive indulgence had made him completely lose himself. He had shown no interest in taking over the family business. All his energy had been devoted to women and he had been an incorrigible playboy. He had not been restrained until he got married. But unfortunately, his indulgence in the past had left him with venereal diseases. He had never had his own child. After much consideration, Nicole was adopted. Of course, Nicole was unaware of it. An accident had taken away the couple’s life while they were traveling; their plane had crashed into the sea. The family had heard no news about them since their bodies never to be found. The loss of his wife in his middle age and his son in his later years had been devastating for Joseph. Over the past year or so, he had been tempted to retire, but he had no choice but to continue to work because he had no suitable heir now. Half an hour ago, when Barret told him that the young man who had found Nicole’s bag looked a lot like the Master when he was young, Joseph had not thought twice about Barret’s statement. But after seeing Joe, he was shocked and felt that his dying heart beating with new vitality again. If Joe was really Hunter's illegitimate son, then the boy would be his grandson. The Andrew family had its heir. For Joseph, there was nothing more exciting than this thought! "Could it be possible?" "I think there's a good chance that he's the master’s son, both his looks and his age." "In that case, the Andrew family will finally have its heir." Barret thought for a few seconds before speaking excitedly, "He must have lost his hair when he took a bath just now. I will collect it right away and run a DNA paternity test. The results will come out in a few hours, and then we will know." "Okay, but it must be kept secret from anyone else." "I know. Don't worry, my Lord." "Do it. I'll wait.”   Five hours later, Joseph was holding the results of the DNA paternity test. His hands trembled slightly, and his eyes were wet. According to this report, the DNA genetic similarity between Joe and Hunter Andrew was 99.95%. "My lord, congratulations. He is really your grandson. God has blessed you and sent your grandson back." Joseph's face was full of tears. In so many years, this was the third time he had lost control of his emotions. The first time was the death of his wife, the second time was the death of his son and daughter-in-law, and the third time was now, finding out he had a grandson. "It must be God's blessing." As a long-time friend of Joseph and a qualified butler, Barret also thought of other things other than just being happy. "Lord, what shall we do next?" Joseph was taken aback for a moment but soon returned to his peace and wisdom stature as usual. "Check everything about him right away. I want to know who his adoptive parents are, how he lived since childhood, and where he is working now…Everything, I want to know everything about him." "Yes, Lord," Barret obediently replied and hurriedly walked out to complete the duty his Lord had bestowed upon him. At 11 o'clock in the evening, Barret returned with the news Joseph wanted. The reason why Barret got the news so fast was that the Andrew Family was willing to spend a lot of money in asking for a qualified detective to check Joe’s background. What’s more, Joe's information was so simple and easy to check, and it did not take much effort at all. After hearing Barret's summary of what he found, Joseph frowned. "Is he an orphan growing up in an orphanage?" "Yeah, Lord, and I think maybe... maybe the Master abandoned Joe’s mother, thus his mother abandoned him after he was born..." "So, he lied to us." "Lord, Joe is not to be blamed. He must be very alert since he grew up in that environment." Joseph frowned deeply. "It is Hunter who is to be blamed. It is he who made the child suffer so much." "Lord, maybe this is God's will. If the Master didn't do this, you may not have this grandson." "Even so, Hunter is to be blamed." "Lord, let us not talk about this now. What should we do next? Shall we find a time to confess with him and then get to know each other." Joseph thought for a moment. "No, it's too sudden. I'm afraid he will not be able to bear it, and I'm afraid that he will not be aggressive like Hunter and will waste his life." "Do you have any good ideas? You cannot let him be a worker for our family this whole time." "He will marry my Nicole!"
