Misunderstanding

We all thought she was hardworking and talented and it doesn't look like it. She might have used underhand tactics to get this role, said a male employee.

You can't talk like that without knowing anything. What if they both are lovers and just chilling out? said another employee, Davin, who has worked under Robin for 4 years.

Since you directly report to Mr. Robin, you would know many things as you are close. Are you aware of their affair? Asked Iris, who is more experienced than Ivy, and has to be the Vice-CFO, if Ivy is not there. Most importantly, she has had a secret crush on Robin since she joined 2 years back.

I'm not sure, Mr. Iris, all I could say is, that they met in private and it is their personal, and let's not spread baseless rumors that could jeopardize our work environment.

Iris scoffed at Davin's words, 'You mean, we all spoiling the work here?'

I didn't mean it that way. As an assistant to Mr. Robin, I need to make sure, we work diligently in the office.

Okay, Mr. Davin. Since it is not working hours, I believe we can talk. If you are uninterested, you can happily leave here, Iris retorted.

Disappointed with his colleagues, Davin left them and thought of informing Robin first thing in the morning tomorrow.

Ivy went to Hyatt Hotel by 6.30 PM, Robin had already arranged everything for the dining in a private VIP room, and it was beautifully decorated with resemblance to the country's significant tea culture, flowers, and a few starters like golden prawns, minced lamb chops, and some soup of pumpkin.

Ivy was pleased with the arrangements, Robin has made, he is a very talented guy. Robin came to her and asked her opinion, about the arrangements.

'If this was a date night, the girl would say 'yes' to you,' said Ivy playfully.

Robin felt a drum playing on his heart, hearing her words, and he wished, he could propose to her right there. But, duty calls first, he has to wait till this meeting and dinner is over and he would propose to her immediately.

Hopefully, Robin gave a vague answer.

You mean, do you have a girlfriend already?

Yes. Why are you surprised?

Because you never shared or given any hint, Ivy said.

Yes, that's my mistake and I'll soon inform the world that I have a precious girl with me to spend for life if she agrees, Robin said lovingly looking at Ivy.

Ivy could feel the change in his eyes before she could speak, loud music played suddenly and a group of musicians started playing violin and singing her favorite song. Ivy was surprised which turned into confusion as the troupe stood before her.

Puzzled she looked at Robin and he was surprised too. Before she could wrap her thoughts, the guy who was singing brought a velvet blue box in a tray and stood beside Robin.

Ivy could figure out the happenings and it took no time to understand Robin's intentions. The dress, the decorations, the ring, and just before this Robin expressed he had a girlfriend. Ivy didn't understand, and when she made a mistake it made it look like she liked him.

How can he propose to her at this time in the pretense of an office meeting?

As she was about to lose her temper, the projector in the room started playing all her childhood pics, happy moments, her parent's anniversary video, her banter with Robin, and the final pic was a bombshell for Robin, which is their selfie pic when they went to Kids Park.

Ivy was controlling her emotions, she was angry that Robin didn't even consider her feelings or her acceptance before arranging all this.

Ivy liked my decorations, I wish I could propose to her in the same place, but I can't use this opportunity because of this meeting. But, at least I got an idea of what she likes now and I'm more than happy that she likes this arrangement, thought Robin.

Wait! Where is the music coming from? Robin turned around to see the troupe playing the songs and he was surprised to see that and Ivy was surprised as well.

Who has arranged this? I've never done it.

He was contemplating how to ask the troupe to leave, as he didn't want any hindrance while making this deal. The singer didn't give him any time to react and a video was played on the projector which I've arranged to share the details with the client, just thinking it would be useful.

Never in a million things, did he imagine he could see the video, which he saved just yesterday as a gift to Ivy when I proposed to her. And the ring exhibited was the same one, he bought for her, the same oval-cut diamond ring, Robin took the ring to confirm his doubt.

But, he could feel Ivy's gaze on him and she was flaring up already. Robin noticed on the projector, that there was a selfie of him and her which was taken by him and the other one was a shock when we both were chilling on the poolside, looking very close and we both were in our swimwear. It gives the impression of two lovers enjoying their time.

Robin would been pleased to see such a picture if it was in another time but now, he was confused and in dilemma about what was happening.

Ivy turned to Robin to ask about this, and she saw the ring in Robin's hand and thought her doubts were right.

'Robin, how could you do this to me? Have I ever said that I like you or behaved inappropriately that gave you this impression?' Ivy asked trying to maintain her composure.

Robin's hope was shattered by this question. He is not worried about being misunderstood but he feels lost and broken that Ivy, never felt feelings for him.

With broken heart, he said, 'I would never do this, without your concern. You were my best friend first, how will I hurt you?'

No matter what he said, Ivy's impression of him changed forever, especially after seeing the intimate picture of them at the pool which is giving the wrong impression.

Is it the end of his love story? Robin loved Ivy for years, but she was taken by someone else before. This time, before he could take a chance it was broken with no hope at all. Ivy is stubborn and persistent, once she has an impression, she will never change it, though she behaves normally. Trust once lost, can't be gained anymore. Even that person behaves normally, there will be still a percent of doubtfulness in their mind!
