  He paced before me, restlessly, shaking his wings and flicking his scales, as if my voice were water and he tried to shed it, like a duck, cleansing itself in a stream. The purple eyes within the square-set face were suspicious, canny, and burning with desire. I hoped Rivyn knew what he was about, and he would not leave me to be ravished by the dragon, for I felt that without his interference, my protestations might be drowned under the river of this other’s needs.   He puffed out smoke, stalking towards me with a cautious dancing step. His claws wrapped around me, as if not entirely sure I would not wound him upon contact. My song ended abruptly upon the closing of those hot, sharp claws around my torso, on an inhaled breath, and I felt him respond, tension rippling through his muscles
