THE RIDDLE For a split second, Val and I had taken our eyes off Mustafa when he made his move. In a shot, the dark angel shoved both Val and me with such force that we went sailing across the room, slamming us into the bookshelves. Books toppled onto Val and me, knocking us loopy. By the time we regained our wits, Mustafa had vanished. In the heat of the moment, Val grabbed the sword and in one long stride, he darted after Mustafa. I had to act fast. No one wanted the dark angel dead more than I did, but I couldn’t let Val die in my place. Swiftly, I tackled him to the ground. The sword went sailing across the floor, a loud ding hit the wall.
