The Death Game of Netherland

Pilot

The air turned black around her as the portal is opening. Her hair stood up because of her excitement, she stop it. She did it. She never understood how everything is connected, but now, she knows.

And there will be no next generation who will experience what they experienced.

As she thought.

When the black air that is surrounding her becomes a mist, a shrill cry echoed everywhere, a cried that turned into an evil laugh.

A bright light covered the place that makes her eyes closed, and when she opens it, her hair stood in end, a shiver raced down on her spine and a lump came to her throat.

He was inside, in the other side, looking back at her, shock.

They were both looking to each other when suddenly, all the gems turned brightly based on it's color and each one of them, explodes, and a fire starts.

"Akai." She whispered and when she touches the portal, the energy explodes.

People screamed, cried, and flew away, like a lifeless leaves from a dead tree.

It explode.

Netherland Explodes, so does the Earth.

She never stop it, she just changes the ending.

The ending that no one wanted.

8 weeks before the event...

A girl with a short mid hair was lying on her bed. She was peacefully sleeping until she heard her alarm clock ringing. She then opened her eyes and smiled.

She didn't sleep last night again, she was dreaming over and over, assuming that she is the main character in her favorite movie. She was a cheerful girl even she had a deep past that she can't forget, her life was perfect before, but now, it all went down after that event happened, but she never want to talk about it, it's been 7 years, she wanted to live her life peacefully. But even she force herself to forget, she can't.

She went on the shower and take her bath to start her day with freshness in her. Minutes had passed and she was finished.

Asuka smiled in front of her mirror after dressing her school uniform. She is very excited because her favorite movie, like I said earlier, Netherland, is having a celebration at the Amusement Park outside their town, three days after this day to it's big success. She, her bestfriend, and some of her classmates are going to the celebration because almost all of them are fan of the movie.

The reason why everyone love it, is because Netherland is about a magical place where evil and good are fighting to get the Seven Magical Gems that's going to open the portal of Netherland. But no one knows where the Gems are, no one even knows if the portal of Netherland is really existing. It is just a gossip in their world, a legend to be exact. But the thing is, everyone believe that the portal of their world, Netherland is really existing. They says that when you open the portal of Netherland, the one who went inside the portal will get what they want, what they wish, it's a magical place where what you think, will happen. That is why people are willing to do everything just to get all the Seven Gems.

Specially the two leaders of theirs.

In the movie too, their place was split into two, the Dark magic island, where evil lives and the Light magic Island, the good island.

They lose hope about finding the gems, and they start thinking that the portal of Netherland is just really a legend, but one day, everything changed when one of the kids found the portal in an accident way.

That is why everyone love the movie because of it's plot, because of the complications of the movie, that is why Asuka is addicted to it, dreaming to be one of the actors, and that she is willing to do anything just to be in the celebration of Netherland the Movie.

"Asuka! You're gonna be late again if you're going to stay in your room for 30 minutes!" Asuka's mom shouted from downstairs. "I know mom!" She answered.

She gets her bag that is lying on her bed. Before she went downstairs, she look to the mirror again for the last time. She look down and touches her necklace, she then hold her necklace tight, the necklace that her father gave to her. The necklace is a pendant, but with a lock, she doesn't really know what's inside the pendant, and where the key is, before her father went missing 7 years ago, her father said that she should take care of it, because what's inside of it, is really valuable, a key to open a bad world, that if someone knows what's inside, they are willing to do anything to get her, and her pendant.

Until now, she doesn't know what does that supposed to mean, or why? Why the pendant that her father gave to her, can cause a world war.

Asuka's father is missing for 7 years. His missing person case got closed after 3 years of no track of him, Asuka and her mother accept the fact that maybe her father is dead, even no body was found.

"Good morning." Asuka greeted her mother. "Morning sunshine." Her mother greeted back. Even there's no hope of finding her husband, she force her self to be brave for Asuka, that's what mothers do. Being brave for their child.

"I'm not going to eat breakfast today mom, I already drink a milk." Asuka said when her mother is going to give her a rice and a sushi. "Alright, so? Drinking milk makes no difference in eating a rice, it's still a breakfast." Her mother said while bringing the food back on the counter. "Are you still going to the Amusement park on 4th?" Her mother ask. "Of course mom! I really love that movie, and I am going to do anything just to be in there." She said. Her mother's face suddenly went sad. "But, the ticket is expensive. We can't even pay our bills."

Asuka can't say that they're out of money right now, she cant. The only problem she has right now is that, she still doesn't have a golden ticket for her to be in the celebration night of The Netherland, The Movie. Her bestfriend and her classmate already have one, while she doesn't have one, she's the one who invited her bestfriend to be with her, but now, she's shy to tell her that she still doesn't have a golden ticket.

"It's fine mom, I'm going to do ANYTHING just to be in the celebration, with no trouble making, I promise." She said before she kissed her mom's cheek. "I'm gonna miss the bus." She said and walk outside of their house. "I'll do everything." She then whispered.

Asuka is full of possitiveness, she can't let the negative destroy her perfect day. 

After minutes of riding the bus, she finally arrived her school. She walk inside and students are gathering in one place. "Hi Asuka!" Her soul almost left her body when her bestfriend greeted her. "Good morning Shin." She greeted back. "What's happening there?" She ask and point out where the students are gathering. "Oh, I forgot. There's gonna be a random person who can win the golden ticket for the Netherland celebration." Shin answered. She aggressively look to Shin. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Shin asked with eyes are widely open. "I'm going to write my name there." She said. "You can't. The papers for the entry is almost gone. And why? You don't need that. You already have a ticket right? What? When you win the ticket, who's the person your gonna give it? Your mom?" She said and laugh. When Shin realized that Asuka isn't laughing in her joke, she stop. "Sorry, it's supposed to be a joke."

'This is the only way for me to be on the Amusement.'

Asuka says to her mind.

'Im going to list myself later when Shin is gone.'

"Come on." Asuka said and smiled at her. She get her wrist and they start walking on the hallway, to be in their class.

Asuka and Shin are friends since they we're 8. Shin's family moved that day the day before her father went missing, when Asuka saw Shin playing alone, Asuka approach her and they become bestfriend. Shin is in Asuka's side too when her father went missing.

That is why their bond is much stronger than a rubber.

After spending 6 hours of class, finally, the class is finished. She felt relieved when she's leaving the classroom, she prepared her pen and walk the hallway. She walk fast and keep looking behind her because she doesn't want to get seen by Shin. Shin and Asuka is in different class, that is why she's avoiding the another classroom where Shin's class is. But even they were in different class, they're still bestfriend.

She stop at the bulletin board where you can get your paper entry for the raffle but she was so shock when she saw nothing.

She felt sad, her hope is gone. Her hope of going in the celebration, is gone.

"I really can't go to the Amusement." She whispered. "Asuka?" She look up and saw one of her classmate, Kyle.

Kyle is wearing a black sweater and her hair is like an emo. His holding a bunch of book in his hand, Asuka can't even get why he needs to hold his book when he has a backpack in his shoulder. Kyle is an emo boy, a quiet one, people thinks he is weird, but for Asuka, he is just a human being, like her, like the others.

"You're crying." He said. He get something on his pocket and give it to her. "What do you want me to do with that?" She asked while looking at the scarf that Kyle is handing to her. "Are you dumb? Of course to wipe your tears." He said with his left eyebrow stand.

They both laugh.

"Fine." He said when Asuka isn't accepting the scarf he gives to her, Asuka was so shock when Kyle, himself wipe the tears on her cheeks. "You're better without your tears." Kyle said. He smiled and put the scarf on the roullete and leave.

Asuka and Kyle? They never talk to each other. Kyle is quiet, it's rare for you to hear him talking. And Asuka was so impressed when she heard Kyle's voice for the first time near to her.

'so deep and sexy'

She said.

"Who are you talking too?" She look back to see Shin looking at her. "H-hi." Asuka said, stuttering. "You didn't wait for me." Shin said. "Yeah, I'm sorry, I really need to take a pee." Asuka lied.

Shin look to the bullitin board and look back to Asuka. "I told you. Lots of people wanted to get the golden ticket, dying for it." She said while looking on the bullitin, she hold Asuka's wrist and they walk outside the campus. Asuka look back, she felt disappointed.

Her last hope is gone.

She look back to Shin, she really wanted to tell to her bestfriend that money isn't fast to them right now. But she doesn't know how to spill the words, she doesn't want to hurt her mother, she's thinking about her mother, about what their life gonna be if she says the truth about their family.

"By the way, who's that deep and sexy your talking too?" Shin ask. "You heard what I said?" Asuka asks in her shock tone. "Of course I heard what you said." She answered.

Asuka choose not to tell, she wanted to keep it as a secret, that she heard Kyle's beautiful voice for the first time.

They we're just talking about random stuff while walking home. Shin and Asuka both walk home everyday but they both ride the bus every morning. They we're neighbors, their house was facing each other, and their room is facing to each other, seeing each other every night through window.

When both of them got home, they say good-bye to each other, that's how they we're close.

Asuka spent the day in her room, thinking about that golden ticket that she can get for free. But, some side of her is saying that there is still a chance for her to be on the Amusement Park, she just needed to think about what she is going to do, she needs to think that there's a miracle after this day.

She get her phone on her side table, when she got her phone, she look to a scarf that was lying there, Kyle's scarf, she then smiled when she remember Kyle earlier.

Before they left the campus, Asuka get Kyle's scarf on the roullete and put it in her pocket.

She put the earphone in her ears and play a song, a song that he used to sing to her. She play it when she's losing hope to everything. Her father always told her that losing hope can lost a soul, and possitiveness can light a soul. Even tho she doesn't really know what her father is trying say to her that time, she's just keep doing it, because all the things her father told her is the only way that she can remember her father.

"Where are you dad? Why did you left us without any words leaving that can help find you?" She whispered. She's just keep listening to her music while crying, she wipe her tears and take a deep breath, she smiled and she fix her body on the bed for her to be comfortable, until she fell asleep.

Next morning,

Everything is just the same, she woke up, she take her milk, she's getting ready for school, and she stares to the mirror in her bedroom.

"I wish everything will be different today." She whispered. She always felt being in a loophole because nothing really changed everyday. She wanted to feel something, she wanted to experience another level of trials, another level of challenges, she is tired of waking up without any changes.

"Asukaaaa!!" She look back when someone called her. She's at the classroom now, sitting in her usual chair when Shin is screaming of excitement. "Can you lower your voice?" She ask because she felt embarrassed about her self because all of the students are looking at her.

Suddenly she realized something, all of the students are looking at her earlier when she arrived her school. " Why is everyone's looking at me?" She ask to Shin when she arrived in front of Asuka. Shin is now standing in front of her, while her both arms is in her back, Shin is trying to hide her smile by biting her lips. "What is going on?" Asuka repeated. "Whaaaaaaa!!" Shin scream while showing her the golden ticket that is in her hand. "What is that?" Asuka asks Shin while looking to the golden ticket in her hands. "It's for you dumbass!! You won the ticket!! You won the golden ticket!!" Shin said in excitement. She look around and students are still looking at her, at them.

Asuka pointed her finger to herself. "For me?" Asuka ask. "Yes! For you i***t!" Shin said with a big smile on her lips, and she starts laughing.

It's look like Shin is more excited that Asuka because Shin is screaming while Asuka is confuse on what is happening. She is confused because she remember not writing her name on the list for her to win the golden ticket, she never wrote her name on the roullete.

"Maybe hope is really my thing." She whispered to herself.

She stood up and get the golden ticket to Shin's hands with a smile on her face.

"So tell me, why did you write your name on the list? Who's the special person?" Shin ask while they are both eating their lunch on the cafeteria after their two class. "Special person?" Asuka ask back. "Mhhmm. You already have a ticket right? So, who's the person your going to give it?" Shin ask while eating the spaghetti on her fork.

She stop eating and start wondering if she's going to tell the truth or a lie. Until her eyes met Kyle who's looking back at her.

"Kyle." She said. Shin stop eating and look to her. "Kyle Aliandro?" Shin ask back. "The quiet weird kid?" She added. "He is not weird Shin." Asuka said and she look back to Shin.

And, she chooses to lie.

She felt bad for lying. If pinochio is real, maybe her nose is longer than the basketball player in their school because of all the lies she told.

After lunch she approach Kyle who is sitting alone on a bench. Kyle look at her. "Hi." She said but Kyle didn't reply. "Are you going to the Amusement tomorrow?" Asuka asks him. "I'm not really a fan of that movie. It's unpredictable, but boring. Magic isn't real, it is just a fantasy." Kyle answered.

Yeah, magic isn't real.

Asuka said in her mind.

But she really felt something inside her. Something that makes her so desperate to go on the amusement. Like she is really part of something on that movie, but she just thinks that it is normal, she is a big fan of the movie, that makes her feel connected to it.

"Are you going to class?" Kyle ask her. Asuka nodded, means she agreed. "Let's go to class together." Kyle said and stood up. Kyle give his hand to Asuka to help her stand. Asuka get his hand and stood up. "Thanks."

See, maybe everything will change. Some people says that if you met a new person and let them in, in your life, good things will happen. Maybe the good things that can happen to Asuka is going to Netherland Amusement tommorow, winning the golden ticket even she didn't write her name on the list, like a miracle, thanks to the new person he met, thanks to Kyle.

"Mom!" Asuka shouted when she got home. She finds her mom sitting on the chair inside the dining room. "Mom?" Asuka called her again. Her mom look back to Asuka, and she's crying. "Mom? What happened? Why are you crying?" Asuka ask her mom who just wiped her tears and she drink water first before she tell to Asuka the reason why she's crying.

Asuka drop her bag on the floor when she heard what her mother told her. Asuka starts crying.

"They found your dad. They found your father's dead body."

Maybe what her dad says is true.

When things are going up, there's always something that makes you down.

There's always a sad ending, to a happy start.

Don't celebrate early because your happy, because if you do, something will bring you down.
