THE MURDER WEAPON EPISODE FOUR

What Myra said caught me off guard so I remained silent for a few seconds before looking at her again.

Me: who are you and what do you want from me?

i asked maintaining my an eye contact with her and she was shy enough not to look me in the face but I wasn't going to let it go. i didn't know of she was telling me that just to get my attention but if mentioned murder then she sure as hell had to have seen what went down.

Myra: I don't want anything from you.

Me: that's not what it seemed like when you visited yesterday.

Myra: I had no other intentions other than getting to know my neighbor and know if he is keeping guns in his house.

she looked at me briefly when she said that.

Me: did you find any?

Myra: no. I didn't find anything because I didn't look.

Me: good then stay out of my business if you don't want to die too.

the look on my face told her that I wasn't joking when I said that. this Myra lady was playing with fire and I don't think sue had no idea who she was talking to or what i was really capable of doing..

I got up and walked out not wanting to hear anything else from her but she got up and blocked my way. I pushed her off and got out. See I knew Myra had something up her sleeves from the way she was checking out my house the previous day but I chose to play stupid for I knew If I engaged in a conversation trying to explain myself to her I would have ended up giving her information that she shouldn't know. What if she was faruk's spy?

I got to my house, packed my swimming costumes and left. I didn't have time to pass by and check on my business since I was running late so I went to the hotel and on arrival people had already started swimming.

I checked around hoping to see Waridi but she wasn't there. I kind of wanted to see her so that I could apologize for the way I acted and treated her the previous night, that was so insensitive of me.

I did my job as usual, taught whoever needed to be taught but my mind was scartered all over the place. I walked round the pool checking on how the other swimmers were doing at the same time reminiscing about the conversation I had with Myra earlier, what if she really saw me at the crime scene, what if she opens her mouth and tell the wrong people that information and what if she is the one who shot Dukes?

I didn't know how I was going to do it but I was going to investigate Myra and if it's true she saw me at the crime scene I was going to get rid of her. I thought Faruk was the only person I had to worry about but from the look of things, I had more enemies than I thought.

A few hours later, the swim lesson was over and having waited for waridi without her showing up, I decided to go home. The stupid mistake I made was not getting Waridi's number and I wasn't even sure if I was going to see her again. Despite her being a stripper, there was something outstanding about her that couldn't allow me to get her off my mind. What if I really was wrong in judging her?

I thought of going back to the club to see her but I couldn't. Faruk's men were on the lookout and the fact that Faruk hadn't tried to contact me again meant he had something cooking. Faruk is the type of guy who doesn't give up and he strikes when you least expect.

I alighted at the bus stop at around 6pm and decided to visit Duke's mum to see how she was doing and what plans she had as far as the burial was concerned. When I got to Dukes place, I noticed two very new cars parked just outside their gate and I thought it was Duke's uncles who had visited after hearing about his death so I got in and to my surprise I spotted one of faruk's guys seated right opposite the door and since I couldn't got back, I went in anyway expecting the worse.

Faruk saw me and smiled getting up.

Faruk: this is the man I told you about.

Duke's mum turned and looked at me and the fact that she was not showing any sign of smiling on her face told me that there was a problem.

Sabrina: Rahim,

I shifted my gaze from Faruk to her.

Sabrina: he says the three of you have been friends for a long time, that you also discussed taking care of Duke's burial?

That came in as news to me. Faruk had put me in a fix because he knew I couldn't say no to sarah because I loved that family as my own and I had to play along. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I couldn't take care of my friends burial but I just didn't like the way Faruk was going about things just to prove a point I knew nothing about. he was pushing so hard and I was going to play along because at that moment, I had no choice.

Me: yeah, Duke's, faruk and I went to the same college.

Sabrina: I have never seen him before and even Dukes never mentioned him.

Sabrina said suspeciously and so I was the one to do the convincing.

Me: that's because we parted ways at some point as we had different things to attend to.

I looked at Faruk really pissed just that I couldn't ask what he had gone to do there.

Faruk: I'm so sorry for your loss mum, Rahim has a CID officer for a friend and I promise to work with him to bring forth Dukes killers. Justice must be served.

Sabrina: thank you so much my sons.

Faruk: don't mention it. Just do a budget and hand it over to me or Rahim and we will take care of everything for you.

He walked to where I was, held on to my shoulder like we were friends then asked Dukes mum to let us leave as we had other important things to talk about. Have you ever been rendered powerless, that's what had happened to me.

Faruk and his guy walked out as I remained inside talking to Duke's mum. She told me her daughter who had been away was coming back to stay with her since Dukes was no longer there. Dukes and his half sister never got along infact he barely recognized her as she was from another mother but they shared the same father. Duke's half sister Renee happened to have a good relationship with Dukes mum and that kind of put Dukes on edge, am not sure why but it got to a point of physical fights so Renee got Dukes arrested and after that went to live with their dad who passed on two years back.

Sabrina: do you think that my half daughter Renee could have had something to do with Dukes death?

Me: why would you think that?

Sabrina: because immediately Dukes dies she wants to come back.

the look on her face actually made me believe she thought Renee could actually kill Dukes.

Me: don't think like that. I didn't rub shoulders with Renee alot but I know she wouldn't do anything like that. She just wants to come be with you at your difficult moment, that's what people with humanity in them do right, you would do that for anyone wouldn't you?

Even before she could answer that, one of faruk's guy walked in to let me know Faruk was still waiting for me so I chucked five thousand from my wallet and gave it to her.

Me: manage that for now. I will visit soon.

I said my goodbyes and left.

When I stepped out I walked to where Faruk was, punched him in the face before getting in his car and waiting for him to get in and drive which he did without causing a scene because we were supposed to be long term buddies according to him. We couldn't afford to show Duke's mum otherwise since maybe she was nosey enough to stand by the window and watch the classy cars leave for that's what mother's do.

Me: you set me up. What the hell were you doing at Duke's home after putting a bullet in his chest?

Faruk: I needed to get your attention because nothing I say seems to get to you. I wanted you to know how easily I can hurt the people you care about, am only getting even for you killed two of my men remember?

Me: aaah yes, I get it. This is revenge for what happened yesterday.

Faruk: no, i can get back at you in so many ways and trust me, this is not one of them. I gave you a chance to make things right but you screwed up by showing me how much of a sniper you are. I will get to those guys and do business with them even without that list but that makes you my target. I will make your life hell.

Me: game on!

I asked Faruk to stop the car and I got off.

Two days later I got home from classes as usual only to get to my door and find two gentle men waiting by the door. I said hello and they introduced themselves as officer from the CID department and they were there to carry out a search and that's not all, they also needed to take me to the station for questioning. i shifted my eyes from one officer to the other. what were they going to question me for?..

Me: what did I do officer?

Officer 1: you will know when we get to the station. Open the door!

I did as I was commanded trying to cooperate knowing I had nothing to hide.

I was asked to stay by the door as they ransacked my little bedsitter which didn't have alot of things but was literally turned upside down. from the look of things, someone had set me up and of i knew better, it had to be Faruk or the b***h next door.

Officer 2: found anything yet?

Me: you know I would help if I knew what you are looking for.

i said trying to make my way in but the other officer held me back giving me a stern look.

Officer 1: shut up!

I remained silent with neighbors getting all nosey trying to figure out what was going on. Myra wasn't anywhere in Sight and I was beginning to think it was her doing. she told me she knew about the murder and her visiting me was fishy, was she looking for something specific to pin me down with?

Officer 1: I think I found something!

he announced looking at both of us and i froze for a mini second. My heart sank and my eyes grew wider as I waited to see what he had found....
