At around 7pm that evening when I was seated in my living room watching news I got a notification from my laptop that someone was at my door. i did some serious camera installation just so that i could be aware of who was stalking me and but mostly because of the clients i had and such stuff.
I checked my screen and saw a lady standing outside but I couldn't tell who she was since she had her back turned to the camera. I got up, took a gun and walked to the door. Why was I carrying a gun? In a world of crime where everyone wants you dead, you don't take anything lightly and just like police say most of the time, everyone is a suspect until proven otherwise. Women have been used before to pull stunts that leave even the mightiest dead. Charm and beauty is dangerous to a man and it would kill them faster than a bullet or poison would, okay don't take that seriously but I think people should be afraid of women who just show up to people's doors unannounced.
I opened the door and saw her, it was Waridi yet again and to be honest, i was not too excited to see her or maybe I was but was just pretending. This woman was something else, how did she even know where I live? I stood there staring at her not sure of how to react on her being right there or even how to go about having a conversation with her..
Waridi: hey?
Me: hey..
i stepped out and stood infront of the door not so sure if i wanted her to come in because she could be a spy.
Waridi: aren't you going to invite me into your home?
she asked looking around as if she was expecting someone.
Me: we might as well talk from here. i do not trust that you will not leave wires lying around.
i crossed my arms to my chest but she wasn't going to have any of that.
she pushed me out of her way and got in so I had to double check that she had not left some company outside and when all was clear I followed her inside and found her admiring the house and since I knew so well i had not given anyone the direction to my place, I pulledout my gun and pointed it at her and when she turned she came face to face with it. she must have been so shocked that i could actually have a gun to her face..
Waridi: put the gun down Rahim am only here to talk and today, not even those careless words will make me leave.
I didn't do what she asked but instead held the gun even tighter and moved even closer to her and pressed it on her head.
Me: you have less than thirty seconds to say what brought you here and how you found this place before you end up frozen in some City mortuary freezer ......Start talking!
Waridi: come on Rahim, i will talk but pointing that gun to my face is making me nervous..
Me: you should know by now that whatever got me attracted to you is no longer there so I will not hesitate to pull the trigger. you should not have come here..
She looked at how serious I was then smiled and walked towards the couch and sat then asked me to do the same.
Waridi: like I said, am here to talk.
ELSEWHERE
Faruk had paid Duke's mum a visit again bringing her some shopping to take care of the visitors that were coming to give their condolences as the few relatives who were available helped with funeral plans. Having finalized on the burial date which was a few days from then, he asked Renee who had just gone there like two days ago to see him off and get some money for his mother from the car. He said his goodbyes to the rest of the people who were there then had his guys escort him out.
Fauruk: i need to ask, who are you to the family?
Renee: am Duke's half sister. you don't know me probably because Dukes never introduced us.
Faruk: yeah, that explains why I have never seen you before.
Renee: have you kept a list of all the people you know in this country?
Faruk: my bad, i didn't mean to upset you. Am sorry. Duke's and I have been close friends but he never mentioned a sister, that's why am asking but like you said, he never had us introduced.
Renee: okay. I've got to go back inside, I've got stuff to attend to.
Faruk: let me ask, have you seen Rahim here lately?
Renee: No. I have not seen him since I got here, what is your reason for asking?
He did not answer that but pulled some money from his wallet and handed it to her.
Renee: what is this for?
Faruk: that is for your mother and here is my card, you can give me a call when Rahim shows up. can you do that for me?.
Renee: why is it so important that I call you about Rahim, can't you do that yourself?
Faruk: he is avoiding me. We had a bit of differences on certain things but I would like to work it out so that it doesn't get awkward when we meet for Duke's burial.
Renee: I don't do anything for free. i don't want to give you the impression that I'm just some person you can send around on errands..
Faruk: its just a message you are passing.
Renee: I still use my mouth to talk when I'm passing that message don't I?..
Faruk looked at her and shook his head as he pulled out some more money from his wallet
Faruk: that should do right, now do you think you can pass the message now?
Renee: yeah. This should do just fine.
She left him, went back inside and went to the kitchen where her mum was preparing some tea. She handed the money to her then started walking away but she called her back.
Sarah: you might want to be very careful with that man, I know he is dukes friend but there is something a bit off about him.
Renee: why are you telling me that, I have no business with him. I just went to get the money he asked me to give to you.
Sarah: yeah, I saw how he looks at you and I saw the card he gave you. You are an adult now and I can't make decisions for you but just be careful.
Renee: okay.
That's all she said before she walked out.
I sat down on the opposite seat and put the gun on the table ready to listen.
Waridi: I know you don't trust me but am here to clear out the air. i know i tried to do that before but it didn't end well. i want to be at peace with you and that's why I'm here making a fool out of myself.
Me: I have a few questions to ask.
Waridi: okay, I'm listening..
Me: was the drowning thing a trap?
Waridi: no it was not, what reason would I have to try and kill myself?
Me: are you working with Faruk, does he send you on errands?
Waridi: No. Once am done at the club that's it. i go home.. no errands..
Me: do you have a thing going with him?
Waridi: a thing?..
me: like a relationship or something like that.
Waridi: No.
Me: the guy you claimed rescued me, who is he?
Waridi: he is one of faruk's men but we have a good connection. He is the only one I thought of that could help. i had no choice.
Me: it's good to have connections.
Waridi: what is that supposed to mean?
Me: no, don't mind me. What am not getting is how faruk's guy would offer to help you without a catch knowing so well that am the most wanted in faruk's list.
Waridi: am not here to discuss him. Am here to make things right between you and I.
Me: you knocked me out then handed me over.
Waridi: to save your life. how many times should i say that?..
Me: you don't know that they would not harm me did you, what if those guys had put a bullet in my head?
Waridi: those guys were after us shooting at us. It's clear that if someone was going to die it was going to be me. Those guys needed you alive.
Me: you speak like you know them so well. How did you find me?
Waridi: I stuck a tracker on your car as we were talking then I traced you here.
Me: what?
Waridi: look Rahim before that day at the pool when you came and talked to me. Nothing in my life made sense at all. I had been thinking about taking my life for a while hoping it would cut off the pain in my life completely. I drive a good car, I live in a good house, I have everything I would want to have in this life but I have no friends or family. My mother died of stroke last year and when I went to her funeral, my father had policemen throw me out. I don't have any siblings I don't have anyone on my side. When you approached me that day. I was writing the last words on my diary so that I could drive myself into a ditch or a pole or something so that my death would be considered an accident.
That talk with you that day gave me hope that besides the men who wanted to sleep with me after stripping for them at the club, there was someone who saw something in me other than my body.
I was afraid to engage with you because I knew that the moment I told you what I did to pay my bills or set food on my table, you would just walk away and I would still end up alone. I didn't want to get my hopes up that someone could actually appreciate and like me for who I was. I am a stripper but not by choice. Never have i slept with a man for money or anything I own especially the ones at the club. Yes I put a tracker on your car because you wouldn't listen and i didn't know how else to get to you. I know all these is messy right now but I want you to know that I would do anything to gain that trust you had in me again. You don't have to believe me but at least give me a chance to prove myself.
I don't know if I was being blinded by what I was feeling for her but I kind of felt like she was being genuine and honest with me. I felt for her when she mentioned her mother's death but I wasn't going to show her sympathy not just yet.
I got up and went to my bar and put some whiskey in my glass as I handed her a glass of red wine.
"Thanks" she said as I sat right where I was seated watching her probably trying to c***k my brain open to know what i could be thinking.
Waridi: you are not going to say anything after everything I have said?
Me: isn't it good enough that I haven't blown off your head across the room, i have actually handed you a glass of wine
She shrugged her shoulder and took a sip of her wine then put the glass on the table and un tightened the sling on her neck.
Me: how is your arm?
Waridi: better but i can't still carry anything.
Me: am sorry for shooting at you.
Waridi: you are a lousy shooter.
Me: uuuh, you wanna try me?
I smiled and she did too.
Waridi: are we still talking about the guns and bullets?
Me: what else would we talk about.
She took another sip of her drink then Placed the glass on the table and got up.
Waridi: I should get going. Thanks for listening. It feels better having talked to you.
She walked to the door and I followed her to see her off.
We got to the door and she stepped out but turned to look at me again then fished her phone from her purse..
Waridi: can I get your number so that I don't have to track you again?
I nodded then took her phone and put my number in it and gave it back.
Me: you need me to drop you off?
Waridi: no, I will get a cab home. Thanks.
She started to walk away but stopped abruptly and came back to where I was standing and gave me a hug but didn't say a word though i hugged her back and watched her walk away.
After waridi left, I did a bit of follow up on the finances and the income of the spar for the past three months and having realized how much I had lost I found it best to drown my shock in alcohol. Nick had stollen from me 2.3 million and now I knew why all over sudden he had a new SUV and dressed a bit different from how he did a while back. I thought I was helping him but the truth is I was digging my own grave.
Three days later while working out and having my private shoot outs at vjays shop I got a call from Renee telling me her mother was sick and she didn't know what to do. I asked her to get a cab and take her to the hospital and text me the name and the address of the hospital so that I would go there when I was done and she did.
As I was winding up, Vjay walked in, picked one of the guns and without a word to me he shot three times at the targets that stood at a distance then placed the gun down and turned to look at me totally impressed with what he had just done.
Me: not bad at all. Looks like someone was letting something off his chest huh?
Vjay: I was bragging about how good I have become but then again you are right I feel a bit pissed off today.
Me: what's up?
Vjay: somebody sent me a parcel today. It was not good. I think someone is after me and this time its more serious than it was before.
Me: what was in the parcel?
Vjay: it's better if I show you.i can'tecen talk avout it without...you know what, just come with me, i will show you.
I grabbed my bag then followed him to his office and watched him walk where a big box was placed down right next to a shelf.
Vjay: come on!
He said opening the box and when I got there I saw a bulls head with blood clots around it.
Me: s**t! what the hell is this?
Vjay: it's a bulls head.
Me: you didn't have to answer that. of cause i know its a bulls head but what the hell?
Vjay: well, that's not the only thing they sent. there is something else
He pulled a drawer and handed me a note that i opened and my eyes bumped into the words written in caps " Three million or your head will be next"..
i dropped the note on the table and our eyes met. all the days i have known Vjay, i have never seen him that scared abd the bulls head really sent goosebumps all over his body..
me: do you know who the person is?..
Vjay: no. that's what i really want to find out..
