Gabriel’s POV: I had felt a shock run through my body just at the small touch she gave me. It was like my veins were lit on fire, and I could not help but hone my senses in and focus on only her. How else could I have reacted but to push her away? Nevertheless, my sharp eyes didn’t miss the steam of hurt that flashed through her gaze before she then settled into a more or less impassive expression. Although she tried to act tough though, there was no way that I wouldn’t notice just how glossy her previously dry eyes now seemed, and she pursed her lips as if she was trying not to cry.
