Chapter 30: I Want to See You Again

Wolf Ridge Ranch
Lilith, my secretary and the person that kept me in line, called my cellphone, waking me. I stirred on my bed, found the device, pressed a button, and held it up to my left ear. She said, “Are you working today, Joe? It’s after ten and you’re not here. I don’t see any appointments for you.”
I pressed another button on the phone, noticed the time, and realized I had overslept. Then I said to her, “Let me shower and I’ll be right there.”
“Well you’d better hurry.”
“Why?” I asked, since she had never told me to hurry before in our relationship as employer and employee.
“There’s a guy here by the name of Dash Shore who wants to see you. He says it’s important.”
