Brenna
It was lunch time and even with Kiara by my side, I was scared that Ray would jump out of some corner and would again try to force something. I hated this feeling. I hated how with every step I took, I was unsure of what will happen next.
Do other students of my age think like that? Of course, not. They didn’t have cruel aunt like mine from hell.
It sometimes made me feel like, I should just quit and be done with this life I had been handed but then what would happen to 'her' if my aunt got her hands on 'her'.
“I am so damn hungry, that stupid chemistry always takes away every damn brain cell of mine.” Kiara grumbled as we turned down the hallway for the cafeteria.
I couldn't wait to have my lunch. I was excited to see what Mrs. Zoe has packed for me. I loved to eat and may be it had to do something with the fact that I didn't get much to eat, but I was grateful for the kindness of Mrs. Zoe that I could just kiss her.
I turned my head to face my best friend when she made a face for her chemistry lecture and said, “You don't have any idea what English lecture—” I was cut short as I slammed into a hard body. “Oh!! I am so sorry… I- I…” I stopped short as the person I had slammed into turned around to face me.
“D-Dominic?”
“Look, who’s here...” Dominic looked at me, raking his blue eyes just like his brother’s from top of my head to my plain black shoes. “The betraying queen herself!” He announced and a few students standing with him laughed.
“I’m sorry.” I mumbled as I turned to go around him, but his hand on my elbow stopped me.
“Oh, you’ll be sorry. But why this rush?” He asked, but didn’t wait for my answer as grabbing my elbow he pulled me inside the small circle of his friends. “Lets get to know each other… and,” He bent down close to me until I met his ice cold eyes as he said, “We should do a much better job of it than we did yesterday.”
“What the hell!” I heard Kiara yell from behind him but couldn’t pay much attention to her as the blood rushed in my ears thinking that may be Dominic was going to reveal whatever happened yesterday in front of his friends or he had already told everyone.
“Hold her for me.” I heard Dominic say as he turned back around and when I looked up I found him saying something to Kiara, he was whispering low in her ear and whatever he said made my best friend’s eyes go wide as she took a step back from him, and then she was gone.
The fact that my best friend left me here alone in this situation should have made me furious with her but I only felt a little bit of disappointment, the larger part of me was glad that she wasn’t here.
“So…” Dominic smirked as he said, “Now, your friend is gone. She left you with us.” He trailed a finger down my cheek, I saw his eyes flashing to my bruised cheek but like Maddox and Brandon, he didn’t ask about it.
“Dominic, please, let me go…”
“Fine.” He took a step back from me. But, before I could have taken a whole deep breath of relief, he said, “You can go, but first you have to kiss me.”
“W- what!?” I sputtered. “N-No..” I took a step back and felt two arms holding me by the shoulders. “P-please.” I tried to shake of the hands. “Let me go.”
“Come on, just a kiss.” He leaned down and whispered in my ear, “We both know you can do more than that.”
My eyes widened as I looked around me, two more boys were standing on either side of me and their cruel smirks told me that they'd be no help. I looked back at Dominic who was inching closer to me.
“Either you kiss me or I'll take the kiss from you. So?”
I was scared. But, I didn’t know from where it came. I knew in the past when I had yelled that word again and again it hadn’t had much affect on Ray but still I tried. “No.” I shook my head for emphasis as I said, “No. I won't kiss you.”
Dominic jerked his head and the hands on me tightened as he came forward. “I wasn't really asking.” He said, inching his face closer to mine.
I scrunched my eyes tight, feeling the damn tears pooling and ready to slip past my lids. I felt his warm breath on my lips, and then…
“Dominic!” His name echoed in the hallway with the force from which it was bellowed.
I peeked through my eyelashes and saw Dominic jerking away from me, and when he turned around, I also saw the person who has stopped this ongoing humiliation of mine.
Maddox.
The hands dropped from my body and despite knowing that Maddox wasn’t on my side I was thankful for his presence. “Brenna.” My name on his lips sounded like a demand, a promise, and of course a threat, but I wasn’t clear for whom the threat was for this time.
As Maddox came to stand in front of Dominic, he held out his hand, palm out, and without thinking I stepped forward and took it. “I told our big brother and I’m telling you, she’s mine to do with as I please and no one,” His gaze flickered from Dominic to the other three boys standing behind him as he said, “No one, touches her, at least until I’m done with her.”
Dominic face changed from angry to a playful smirk as he said, “Should’ve known. You were always like this, didn’t know how to share your toys.”
I cringed hearing his words and became more sad when Maddox didn’t say anything about it.
Turning from the group Maddox dragged me down the hallway once we turned down toward the old classrooms, the terror took hold and I stopped completely. “P- please, no..” I was shaking as I realised what he was going to do. “Please, don’t make me do that again. I can’t.”
“Shut the f**k up.”
“Maddox… I’m sorry…“
It was so sudden I didn’t see it coming, one moment I was pleading with him and trying to break his hold on my arm and in the very next second I was slammed into the wall as he crowded against me. His body pressing into mine as he said, “I don’t give a f**k how sorry you are. Because of you, for eight f*****g months my free will was taken from me and now I’ll make you feel the same. Besides that, because of you, I just had an argument with two of my brothers.”
Saying that he turned around raking his hands through his hair as he hissed, “Just. Because. Of. You.”
I didn't understand what his problem was. I didn't ask for him to go against his brother, its not like I wasn't glad for his interference but if he hadn’t started it then I wouldn't have been in this predicament. I didn't ask for any of it. I already had too many problems of my own without him mixing anything else into it.
And, what does he mean by he’ll make me feel the same. I wasn’t foolish enough to ask him that, of course, I just only wanted to get out of here.
The sound of footsteps broke our silent cocoon and once again I was held in his tight grip as he pushed open the nearby door of the classroom and pulled me inside. He held me pressed against the wall his hand against my mouth, his hard body pressed into my soft curves. I could smell his cologne, woodsy and a mixture of coffee. And as if on queue my stomach grumbled reminding me that I hadn't fed it since morning.
Maddox attention came back to me and I flushed. For a moment his eyes seemed to smile and then we both heard the real monster and his soft look disappeared.
“Brenna, my sweet doll!”
I squeezed my eyes shut remembering the pain that comes with this greeting. All the hunger and embarrassment was forgotten as I heard him walking down the corridor, opening and shutting the classroom doors. “Doll, where are you?”
Without meaning to my hands clenched Maddox’s shirt as I tried to disappear into him. “What—” Maddox begin just when the door of the classroom in which we were slammed open.
Oh god. Oh god. No!!! He found me.
