I was so nervous as I stood there in the open area of the kitchen while both Maddox's parents looked at me. The way Mr. Carter had demanded of me to look at him gave me the impression of from where Maddox got his commanding tone and the way he orders me around.
And, then giving me a soft smile he had came forward closer to me, I didn’t understand what was he about until he dipped and whispered softly for my ears alone. “He is an ass, a stubborn one at that. But, with a soft heart too.” He chucked me under the chin as he said, “Welcome to the family.”
“T-thank you.” I whispered, giving him a blinding smile.
“There’s no need to be nervous, sweetheart.” He said, managing to surprise me that he just gathered that much in just a few minutes with me.
