Shelby started looking around the park to try and find inspiration when someone caught her attention. She lowered her laptop screen and lifted her head to get a better look at the person across the walkway sitting on the bench. Shelby lifted her screen up and began to type while looking up periodically to make sure she described her character to a T. The gentleman she found to use to describe her character was perfect in every way. He was built, he had dirty blonde hair, and green eyes and from what he was wearing he had style. He was wearing black Adidas sweatpants with a white t-shirt that had the black Adidas logo and white and black Adidas running shoes. The more she studied him, she noticed his shirt clung to his muscles and his sweatpants did very little to hide his bulge. Shelby tried not to stare for too long each time she looked at him in fear of possibly getting caught. She looked up from her screen to steal another glance at him, when he stood up from the bench and looked right at her. Her heart began to race and instead of looking away, Shelby continued to stare at him. He winked at her and smiled before he put his AirPods in and jogged off. When he was out of her sight, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and then exhaled. She went back to working on her book and once she was satisfied with the number of words she had written, she grabbed her bag and put her laptop into it. She stood up and headed to the parking lot. When she got to her car, she froze. The gentleman she had locked eyes with not long ago was standing next to a 1965 candy apple red Mustang. She fumbled trying to get her keys out of her bag. When she successfully managed to find them, she unlocked her door and put her bag inside her car. She walked around to the trunk and opened it to grab a water out of her cooler. As she was closing the trunk, she heard someone whistle. She turned to look around and found the guy motioning for her to come over to him. Shelby blushed and shook her head. She walked back to the driver's side of her car and she glanced over at the guy. He stood there against the Mustang with his arms crossed, his legs crossed and his lip poked out. Shelby began laughing. This god-like man is standing over there pouting like a child. She thought to herself. She opened the door but before she got in, “Wait. I just want to talk.” He yelled from his parking spot. Shelby closed her door and sighed. She walked over to the guy. “Hi.” “Um. Hi.” “My name is Bryson.” “I’m Shelby. Nice to meet you, Bryson.” “So I just wanted you to know I am sorry for being cocky earlier.” “Huh?” Shelby was pretending to be confused as to what he was talking about. “Earlier when I winked at you and smiled. I saw you looking at me and was trying to let you know you caught my eye as well.” “Uh. Yeah about that. I’m sorry for staring. I was working on a character for my book and needed the inspiration to describe my male character. You caught my eye and the description fit well for him.” She rubbed the back of her neck nervously. “Book? What kind of book gets a male character with my looks?” “Just something I am working on. I am a freelance writer.” “Well Miss Shelby, are your books available to purchase? I may just have to get myself a copy of the one you are working on so I can read about this male character who is based on my looks.” Shelby began blushing. “I doubt you would want to read it. It’s nothing special. It’s just a romance book.” “Romance. Hm. One of my favorite kinds of books.” Bryson said as he licked his bottom lip. Shelby noticed him licking his bottom lip. Her hands started to shake and her legs felt wobbly. She went to take a step back and almost fell. Bryson caught her and looked down at her. She swallowed hard as she inhaled the scent of Stetson cologne. Not only was this guy good-looking, but he also smelled good as well. She stood up straight and closed her eyes. She took a deep breath to calm herself. “It was nice to meet you, Bryson. I. Um. I have to get going. Sorry again for staring at you.” “Oh. Well, I don’t want to keep you from whatever it is you have to go do. See you around, Shelby.” Shelby turned around and walked back to her car. She got in and took a deep breath. "What in the hell is wrong with me? He just wanted to talk. It’s not like he wanted to rip my clothes off right here and take me on the hood of his beautiful car." She said to herself. Shelby checked her rearview mirror as she backed out of her parking spot. As she was pulling out of the park, She looked back in her rearview and saw that Bryson still standing there watching her as she pulled out. When Shelby got done running her errands, She headed home. After she opened up the front door and put her keys on the hook, she walked into the kitchen to set her bag on the counter. Shelby called out for her roommate Drew but didn't get an answer. She figured she would go ahead and do her laundry since he wasn't there. She grabbed her laundry basket and opened the laundry room door only to find that not only had the water heater busted, but there was also a busted pipe. She grabbed some dirty towels and laid them on the floor to soak up the water. She got her laptop and looked up plumbing companies. She called a few but none of them could fit her in today. She tried one last number. "Callum Plumbing, Construction, and Heating & Air," The woman told Shelby they could fit her in and they would be out within thirty minutes. After giving the woman her information, she texted her roommate Drew to let him know what was going on. [Hey Drew, just letting you know that I have a plumber coming out. The water heater busted and it looks like we also have a busted pipe as well] Drew: [OK. Thanks for letting me know Shelb. Just let me know the total and I'll pay you back for half.] [K. What time do you think you will be getting home? I Want to go for drinks and tell you about my park experience.] Drew: [I should be home about 5:30. Oh goddess a park experience Shelb.?] [Shush Drew. I listen to your experiences all the time.] Drew: [LOL. Mine are very interesting experiences. ;)] [Oh my gosh Drew! You are such a horndog!] Drew: [Later babez. :*] Shelby sat down on the couch with her laptop and waited for the Plumber to arrive. She was scrolling through her chapters and checking them for any grammatical errors when there was a knock at the door. She got up and asked who it was. "It's Callum Plumbing, Construction, and Heating and Air. You have a busted water heater and pipe?" The male voice called out. Shelby unlocked the door and when she opened it, her mouth dropped. "Well, Hello Miss Shelby." Bryson said as he grinned at her. "You work for Callum Plumbing, Construction, Heating, and Air?" "Actually I own the company." Bryson grinned as Shelby moved aside to let him in. "You own it?" "Yup. So where is this busted water heater and pipe located?" He asked her as he looked around her living area. "Oh. It's in the laundry room. Follow me." Shelby walked Bryson through the kitchen and into the laundry room. She quickly grabbed her laundry basket that she noticed had her panties sitting on top and walked out. She took her basket to her room and went back into the living room and sat down. A few minutes later, Bryson walked out. "Well, Miss Shelby. The pipe is fixed. I have to go see if I have the same model water heater on my truck. If not I will have to go get one. I'll be right back." Shelby nodded and went back to looking at her laptop. It was taking everything she had to restrain herself from watching him walk out the door. When Bryson came back, He told her that he had to go buy one and told Shelby he would be back in about forty-five minutes. While Bryson was gone, Shelby got up and straightened the kitchen up. She took the trash out, swept, and did a quick mop. She then started straightening up the living room and her desk. She was getting ready to do a quick clean in the hall bathroom when there was a knock at the door. She opened it to find Bryson was back with the new water heater. After she let Bryson in, Shelby went and sat down at her desk and began working on another chapter of her book. She was lost in her book when she heard Bryson clear his throat. She turned around to find him standing in her kitchen. "Could I get some water, Miss Shelby?" "Yeah. I'll get you a cold bottle." She said as she stood from her desk and walked into the kitchen. "Sorry for disturbing you. I didn't realize you were working." "Oh. It's ok. I was just jotting some stuff down that worked for my next chapter." She said as leaned in and grabbed a bottle from the fridge. "Hm. A new book or the same one from the park that needed my looks?" She began to blush at his question. "It's the same book." "I'll get back to work now. Thank you for the water, Miss Shelby." "Bryson. Please just call me Shelby. Miss Shelby makes me sound like an old lady." "Ok. Shelby. How old are you?" She debated on answering his question but did. "I am 25. How old are you? You don't look like some old business owner. I mean you look good for your age if you are older. Oh for the love of my sanity, I am just going to stop talking now." Bryson started laughing. "I'm 27. It's ok Shelby, you don't have to stop talking. I think it's cute." "Cute?" "I think it's cute that you are getting flustered talking to me. I haven't met any girls who get flustered around me. It's usually chicks who get straight to the point and want to find out what I am like in bed." "Oh. Yeah. I'm not like that." "Sorry. I didn't mean to imply you were wanting to find out what I am like in bed, Shelby. I am going to get back to work now." "Ok." "Mm. I wish I were one of those girls." She said under her breath to herself as he walked away. When Bryson finished the water heater, Shelby went to get her checkbook. Bryson looked around the living room and noticed a shelf with books on it. He walked over to it and picked one up. " In Love With The Big Bad Wolf by Shelby Barker " He read out loud as she walked back into the room. Shelby froze. He opened the book to the first page and smirked. "Tell you what Shelby. I'll make a deal with you. If you let me take the book home and read it and I won't charge you for today." "You want to take it home and read it?" "Yeah. I love reading and this book caught my eye. Do we have a deal, Shelby?" Shelby began blushing. He wanted to take her best Dark Romance book home and read it. She could feel the color draining from her face as she opened her mouth to answer. "Ok, Deal." She said trying to swallow down the lump in her throat that threatened to bring up the contents of her stomach. After Bryson left, Shelby started her laundry and sat down at her desk. She stared at the screen of her laptop for a while but couldn't think of anything to type. The only thing she could seem to think about was Bryson.
