Princess Aurora     The only good thing that had come out of not finding my mate was being able to help my big brother.  After our parents were killed, Atreyu had a harder time adjusting to all of the changes, because of all the extra responsibilities that he was instantly put in charge of.     While grieving for our dead parents, he had to plan a revenge attack on the scoundrels who killed them, while also proving to the Red Thorn Kingdom that he would rule over them in a fair and just way.  Luckily, our citizens didn't need much convincing.  Just avenging their former king and queen was enough to win their blessings.     Since then, I have made sure to help Atreyu with anything I could, and he has learned to trust me when it comes to ruling the kingdom in his absence.  It was something I took a lot of pride in.     Unfortunately, I also had to watch Atreyu become a distant, cold individual.  He didn't have his mate to help him rule over the kingdom, and that ended up turning his heart to ice when it came to almost everybody but me.     Years later, Atreyu finally finds his mate in the worst possible situation, but she's not a dragon like us.  Instead, she's a dark angel who had been abused to the point that she needed immediate medical help, as soon as Atreyu got her home.     It was especially hard for me to watch Atreyu sit by his bed for days while he waited for Genevieve to regain consciousness.  It was the saddest I had ever seen him.  In fact, he was sadder than he was when our parents got killed, and I was worried about what might happen if she never regained consciousness.     Needless to say, when that day arrived, I was excited for Atreyu, but I was also worried that she wouldn't be able to move past the trauma of being abused in so many different, horrible ways.  However, when I walked into Atreyu's office and saw the two of them mating, I was instantly filled with relief.     Genevieve was clearly enjoying her time with Atreyu, and I had high hopes of them making things work.  Of course, that didn't stop me from asking Genevieve if she was gonna accept him as her mate.  Once she admitted that she would accept him if he proved himself to her, I had no worries.     It was obvious that Atreyu would do anything for his mate, and I was confident that he would have few, if any problems when it came to proving himself worthy of her.  However, I felt like she was the one who should be proving herself worthy, but it wasn't my call to make and she seemed nice enough.     I was excited to take Genevieve to hang out with me and my friends.  It would give us a chance to talk and get to know each other.  If she was going to accept my brother and become our queen, I felt like it was important that we bond and become good friends.     While we were walking through the castle to the sitting room, Genevieve curiously asked, "What is it like to be fully marked and mated to somebody?"     I stopped walking and turned to face her, before I solemnly admitted, 'I have yet to find my mate, so I wouldn't know what it's like."     "Oh... I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to make you sad.  I was just curious about what I should expect," she sheepishly mumbled.     "It's okay, Genevieve.  I'll hopefully find my mate one day in the near future, and if I don't, I have my eyes set on one specific dragon.  If he doesn't find his mate either, I might ask him to be my chosen mate," I quickly explained to keep her from feeling bad.     "Really?  Who do you have your eyes set on?" she curiously asked with a hint of excitement flashing in her pretty amethyst eyes.     I glanced around to ensure that nobody was in earshot, then I leaned over and whispered into Genevieve's ear, "I've had a crush on Israel, since we were teenagers.  He's so gorgeous with his blonde hair and silver eyes, but please don't tell Atreyu.  I don't want my brother to treat Israel differently, because I have a crush on him."     Genevieve flashed a sweet smile my way, then she assured me, "Aurora, your secret is safe with me.  I might be a dark angel, but I'm not like the others."     "What do you mean?" I asked with my curiosity peaking.     "To be honest, I never felt like I belonged underground with the other dark angels.  I never liked torturing the dark souls.  I always felt horrible after doing that.  Sure they deserved to be tortured, but I never felt like I was the one who should be doing that," Genevieve timidly explained.     "Now, you know why you always felt that way," I enthusiastically stated.     "Why is that?" she asked in confusion.     "Because you are supposed to be here with Atreyu," I cheerfully answered with a pleased smile.     I could see the wheels turning inside of her head, then Genevieve's smile widened before she warily replied, "I hope you're right about that.  I like Atreyu a lot, but he's awfully quick to lose his temper."     "Oh, sweetie.  You will get used to that.  Atreyu has to stand his ground with our citizens, or they will think he is a pushover and not follow his rule," I explained with confidence.     "I suppose that's necessary at times," she understandingly admitted.     "I am confident that Atreyu will be a loyal mate to you.  I honestly have not seen him this happy since before our parents were killed," I assured her.     "That's horrible!  I was wondering why I had not met them yet," she gushed with surprise evident in her voice.     I was quick to ask, "Has Atreyu not talked to you about our parents?"     "No, he has not said a word about them," Genevieve admitted with a frown.     While we walked the rest of the way to the sitting room, I filled Genevieve in on what happened to our parents, and how it impacted Atreyu.  It was a little hard to tell her everything, because it brought back sad memories, but it was good for Genevieve to understand why Atreyu is the way he is.
