Two - First Day

Gianna POV. Last night I went to bed crying, I wanted to go back home. I couldn't believe they were so mean to somebody they hardly know. I was confident that I was a good student and a kind-hearted person. Why were they so mean? I woke up early in the morning, took a shower, and got dressed in my uniform. Yes, we wore uniforms. Girls wore a pleated gray skirt, white blouse, a navy blue jacket, and black shoes... Boys wore pleated pants, white shirts, a red tie, a navy blue jacket, and black shoes. Both girls' and boy's jackets had the school crest embroidered on the right. The navy blue color of my jacket made my fiery red hair stand out nicely. It wasn't my choice of clothing or colors but I thought I looked decent. I made my way to the cafeteria and took a tray. I was starving, I didn't have dinner last night. So I proceeded to step on the line and had a helping of eggs and bacon. I had some milk and orange juice as well. I took a seat on the furthest table of the room, I did want to be invisible and started eating my food in quiet delight. “So, here you are pigging out. I wonder isn't it is cannibalism when a pig eats another?” Constance said loud in front of me while I was placing a piece of bacon on my mouth. Suddenly I lost all my appetite. SO I took my tray and tried to walk to the garbage area to dispose of most of my food, but Constance took the opportunity to push me hard enough for me to trip yelling: “Watch where you are going.” I am well right on my face, getting food all over myself. People were watching and laughing at what had happened, nobody cared to help me until a small hand came over and tried to pull me up. “Hi I am Mackenzie Astor, Are you alright?” A beautiful girl said to me. I was about to reply when I heard “Mackenzie come over here now!” I raised my eyes and saw that Tony was calling her. She gave me a sad smile and mouthed “asshole” and proceeded to walk towards him. As soon as she came over I could hear him “Don't get involved I forbid you.” She was gutsy, she just said: “Hey you are my brother, you are not mom and dad, so stop trying to control me.” with that, she walked away from him. I took the opportunity that I lost others' attention because suddenly it was more important to hear what was going on with Tony than to look at me, so I ran away to my room to get cleaned up and change. I was wondering how a kind soul like Mackenzie, shared blood with Tony. Maybe later I hoped we could be friends. I went to class feeling a lot less confident than before. I was a Sophomore, but my tests, proficiency, and grades were so high that they placed me in my Senior year of High School at Dalton. My aunt Vanessa was an excellent teacher and tutor, so I was very well educated and taught. Now my worst fear was sharing classes and subjects with Constance and friends. Of course, I was not so lucky, I entered advanced calculus and in the back of the classroom, I could spot Tony, Jason, Constance, and her two minions. S**t this is going to be a long school year, I thought, giving out a sigh. “What are you doing here Blubber?” She yelled at me. What the hell?, is she now calling me blubber because I am a bit on the overweight side, that is just nasty. Body Shaming should be penalized in society. But I guess this part of society just doesn't care. I took a seat as far away as I could, but she was not finished. “I am talking to you Blubber, what are you doing here?” She said, banging her hands on my desk. I just shivered in fear. “This is where my schedule says I should attend,” I replied with a trembling voice. She took my schedule and looked at it. “You are a Sophomore, you shouldn't be with Seniors. I am going to complain.” She said fuming. I took back my schedule and proceeded to get ready to take my class. Tony´s POV I am tired of being in boarding school, I should be done and ready to start learning the business with my dad. I was a popular kid in school, so it is only obvious that I should date the most popular girl, so Constance King was my girlfriend. I stayed this last year, because Mackenzie, my sister, was still here, and I knew she felt alone. Mackenzie was the most sensitive, beautiful soul I have ever met. She doesn't realize that being kind to the wrong people can get you in trouble, so when she decided to give a hand to the new girl, I had to stop her. After all, I am her big brother and I have to look for her best interest. My best friend Jason Cox is the heir of a multibillion-dollar media company and was the football captain. So he was popular and followed by girls day and night. I liked to be popular but I also enjoyed my privacy, so when the football team captain position was offered to me, I kindly declined and settled with only the Student Board President Role. Jason has a weird sense of humor and most of the time comes across as mean-hearted and cold, but I have known him since we were 6 years old, he is kind and feels lonely just like me. Constance King was another deal. She started coming to this school only a couple of years ago, just like Gianna, at age 16, but she is ruthless and mean, and if you get on her bad side, you will experience her wrath hitting you like a bull. She is beautiful, but she has a shallow heart. I know that in the long run, she wants to settle with me, but I am not sure if I could tolerate her mean behavior for the rest of my days. Constance´s best friends and minions, The Scott twins, Mandy and Molly, were brainless followers that comply with everything she said. I knew who they were and I knew their flaws, but all in all, apart from Mackenzie, they were the closest to a family to me, so oftentimes, I just went with the flow. I enjoyed my status and position and if I have to run over someone so be it. This school year we received a new girl, she is the daughter of a multimillion Real Estate businessman, in this school the average was multibillion, so she was placed in the poor status, and then when we met her, she didn't fit on any of the girl's physical standards, the poor thing was short and a bit chubby. I felt sad for that girl, Gianna, because she was in for a nasty ride, especially when Constance took it into her hands to make her life miserable. Gianna was 16 years old, so she was a Sophomore, we wouldn't have many classes together, that was something that helped me clear my conscience regarding Constance's insults towards her. I felt pity when she was placed in most of our Senior lectures. If she was proficient on a senior level, that meant she was smart. And that caught my attention. Maybe she is not that bad and we are judging a book by its cover. I struggled with advanced calculus, it was the one subject that I needed to apply myself to get average grades. My friends were on the same boat, and then I noticed that Gianna was brilliant in calculus, maybe secretly I could ask her to help me out. The class finished and my friends all walked past Gianna making nasty comments to her. I told Jason that I needed to check something with the teacher, so they went ahead without me. “Hi Gianna, how is everything going?” I asked her. She looked scared and surprised, and she lowered her eyes. “I am holding on” She quietly said. Poor thing, I felt pity for her situation, but there was nothing I could do for her. “So How come you are taking Senior lessons if you should be a Sophomore?” I curiously asked. “Oh, I was homeschooled by my aunt, and she was a great tutor, so I am advanced in most of the subjects.” She said, and I couldn't help but feel a knot on my stomach. This was her first real school experience and it has been hell on earth, and it has only been two days. “That is great, so are you good at this subject?” I asked, I hated to waste my time on chit-chat, if I needed something I went for it. “Advanced Calculus? Is one of my favorite subjects. So yes I am good at it.” She said with a small smile. “Do you care to tutor me sometimes, because I struggle?” I said placing my hand in the back of my head. “Yeah sure, we can meet at the library around 5 pm every day if that works for you.” She said, “Yes it works, so see you later.” I said. I don't feel good about asking her for favors, not because I would owe her something, but because if Constance finds out, she was dead meat, literally. But I guess I have to be extra careful, I can't risk Constance to find out, and my grade this year is super important. So I will have to be extra careful.
