Vika's POV
"Well then… I… Asher Brennan…" he trailed off.
I hugged myself again.
'No, Asher, don't say the words,' I silently pleaded, but I'd already told him to.
"Don't accept Devika Bitha's rejection."
"What?" I asked, opening my eyes quickly.
I sniffled, but the weight in my heart was gone. My tears had stopped too.
Why was I suddenly feeling so light? This wasn't how this was supposed to go.
"I'm not accepting your rejection, Vika," Asher clarified.
"Why not?" I cried. I put my hands on either side of my face and dragged them down my cheeks. This was my big drama moment, don't hold it against me.
