connor stared at her for a while unsure of what to say. " I just want to raise sky around family and Boston was where I ran away from you too. I was looking for something all my life but the truth is .." she shifted and sat up looking into his eyes. " I want this life for her and for us. I found my place and where I fit in and I don't think I fit in there anymore."

connor was trying to tread carefully so he wasn't pushing her into a decision. " are you sure thats what you want? you worked so hard to get where you are."

" I'm sure. I have to go back after this month is up and get things settled there and put in my notice at work so I leave on good terms. but yeah I want to raise our daughter here with love and family. " he reached over grabbing her into his lap planting kisses all over her face.

" baby I want what you want and if staying here is what you want then my queen gets what she wants." he started tickling her as she squirmed to get away. " now I got our little princess asleep in her bed and I plan on helping you out of these clothes. " Alexis started laughing and got up to run to the front door throwing the door open and running to the bedroom.

the time flew by and the wedding went off without a problem. they were dreading the time nearing that Alexis and Skylar would leave again even though they were coming back Connor didn't want them to leave. Robert had come over a few times to their house to spend time with Skylar and Connor. Alexis was glad to see the connection. her mother spent time with Skylar and would take her to help feed the animals and clean the stalls. time seemed to fly by. she felt him come up behind her wrapping his arms around her holding her tight. " what are you thinking about?"

" I just don't want to go. I don't want to take her away from you. I just want to be back already." he turned her around cupping her cheeks in his hand.

" you don't have to leave. we can arrange for someone to go and send the stuff here and you can email a letter."

" that's tempting for sure."

" think about what you want and I will support you in whatever you need " she walked upstairs to check on Skylar sleeping in her room. the thought of taking Skylar away from him made her stomach turn.

" ok." she turned to him.

" ok what baby?"

" I don't want to leave and I am sure I don't want to take her away from you again. send someone over to pack up for us and send it back." he picked her up carrying her to their bedroom. " what are you doing?" she laughed.

" making love to you then I will make the calls. I will do anything to get you to stay with me. " he set her down on the bed and spent the rest of the afternoon making love to Alexis until it was time for Skylar to wake up. he got up dressing quickly and moving towards the door.

" where are you going?" Alexis looked at him curiously.

" well sky and I are going to head over to your mom's drop her off for a sleep over then I'm coming back and doing all kinds of crazy things to you." he kissed her on the lips and walked out. she waved goodbye to them and decided to make a romantic dinner for them. a few hours pass by and dinner is spread out on the table in the kitchen. she watched as he pulled back up and walked inside. " smells good honey." she turned toward the fridge to bring out a couple of beers to have with dinner. when she walked back towards the table she saw Connor standing there beside the table.

" what's wrong?" she watched him as he fidgeted nervously. she came closer to him as he came down on one knee and pulled a small box out of his pocket. her hands came to her mouth as it set in.

he opened the box showing the diamond ring inside. " Alexis, I have loved you the moment I saw you. you loved me when no one else did. you made me feel whole and gave me a family. I can't imagine my life without you in it. you and sky are my everything and I promise to show you every day how much I love you. you are my home. my everything. will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" Alexis jumped into his arms kissing him all over his face. " I need an answer Lexi!"

"yes! yes ! yes! a hundred thousand times YES!" she was wrapped completely around him not letting him go. her face was glowing from her joy and he pulled away long enough to slide the ring on her finger. nothing could compare to this moment. she stared at her hand still in shock. " i can't believe we're getting married! thank you!"

" for what baby?"

" for all of this. for everything. for loving me."

" lexi you saved my life. without you I was dying and you saved me." he pulled her close to him and and kissed her neck.

" I need to call my mom!" she got up and ran to her phone to call everyone and tell them that she was getting married. she had finally found where she belonged in life. she felt complete and no longer had the desire to run away. this time she was running to her life living every minute of it. this was how life was supposed to be. life wouldn't always be perfect but she knew she wanted to ride every minute of it with this man. this was what her path had led her to. she would chose loving him every time. no one could ever compare to this life and this love.

3 years later

Skylar ran in the yard with her brother in tow behind her. Alexis came behind them as they ran in circles. Ayden was two years old now and Connor was every bit the dotting father he was with Skylar. her now bubbly six year old was a daddies girl. Alexis looked up to see Connor watching from the porch. " hey there handsome." Alexis smiled at him as he walked slowly over to her.

" hey there my beautiful wife. shouldn't you be resting with your feet up?" He looked at her knowingly at her.

" the kids needed some outside time. they were getting restless." he reached out his hand and rested it on her stomach rubbing it.

" baby your pregnant and need rest." he motioned for her to take his hand as he scooped Aiden into his arms. this was what her life had meant to be. the unconditional love she felt from Connor and her kids was overwhelming and filled her with such joy and peace. she felt safe and loved. the feeling in her heart was what home felt like and she knew this was home. This family would always be her home.
