The rest of the day was a series of near misses: Caleb pulled Megan into the bathroom, only to forget to lock the door and for James to open the door and catch them. That time, no clothes had come off, and for that, Megan had said a fervent prayer of thanks. After dinner, she pounced on Caleb when he went out to get some firewood.
