Chapter 2: Polter-gay-st (2)
***
The following day...
"You're still here?" Ezekiel asked as he tilted his head to the side. He looked a bit surprised as he noticed the ghost he'd met yesterday was still at the same spot he left him.
"Of course I am! I told you this is my home..." The ghost said as he crossed his arms and began circuling around the man. "So you should consider leaving first, because I can make things really spooky for you, you know?" He suggested but the other ignored him.
"What's your name, ghost?" Ezekiel questioned as he began preparing his morning coffee ever so casually. It seemed like he was having a chat with his roommate rather than an outwardly being.
"...while I was living? I don't know that..." The ghost replied as he circled around once more. "Why do you need to know that? Are you trying to take my name, like those damn fairies do?!" He asked, sounding a bit offended, or maybe frustrated would be a better word for it. His transparent body seemed to shake with rage as he mentioned fairies.
"No... I just thought I'd call you something while you're here..." Ezekiel turned to glance at the room around him, then stopped himself at the kitchen counter. "How about Orange?"
"You really want to give me a stupid name? What's with that... I'm not your pet or anything..." The ghost replied as he took an orange off the counter. "Your name is Ezekiel, right? That's a stupid name as well... I guess there’s no helping you can’t come up with anything good..." The ghost remarked as he quite audibly sighed and began playing with the orange, making it float in the air.
“How about Coffee then?” Ezekiel asked as if he was completely ignoring the man’s previous statements. His eyes glowed as if that was the best idea he’d ever gotten in his life, then he took another sip of his cup of coffee.
“You... are you just stupid?” The ghost asked as he rolled his eyes. He sighed while glancing around the room then finally his eyes stopped at an old broken picture frame. “Weiss... that’s what you can call me...” he muttered in a low voice. The frame had nothing inside it and the glass was mostly thrown out, it was only the small wood frame and fragments of glass remaining.
“Fine then...” Ezekiel looked almost disappointed he couldn’t name the ghost himself. “So then, Weiss... What are you doing?” He asked while tilting his head to the side, he hadn’t been paying attention to the ghost for a while.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m trying to scare you. So be scared and leave.” The ghost said as he held the orange in his hand, preparing to throw it as if he was a pitcher at a baseball game. “I’ve collected ammunition and today you’re out of the house...” He said with a nasty glare as he threw the first orange.
Ezekiel on the other hand managed to capture the orange flawlessly, like a professional catcher at a baseball stadium. “I told you not to waste food... I’ll punish you if you don’t stop this...” He glared at the ghost with undoubting eyes.
“Ha! You a human punish me? Are you serious? You can’t even touch me!” The ghost said ever so confidently as he flew closer to Ezekiel. “So? What are you going to do, huh? You think you’re so tough just because you’re not scared of me, haha~” Weiss began floating over the man’s head while mocking him, but suddenly he felt a tugging at his transparent body.
“I told you to stop fooling around...” Ezekiel said while his hand somehow managed to grab hold of the ghost. He pulled Weiss down and held onto him so strongly that the otherwise weak willed ghost couldn’t do anything to escape.
“What’s happening?! Why are you’re touching me!” He said angrily as he tried to pull away, but only a few seconds later did realization strike his face. “Wait... You’re touching me??!” Weiss’s eyes widened so much you’d think they were going to comically pop out of his already nonexistent skull. You could panic in his voice and Ezikiel could feel the attempts the man made to escape.
“Hm? Guess I can touch you after all...” Ezikiel remarked as he squeezed the ghostly arm he held onto to. “...you feel strange though, not like a human...”
“Obviously! I’m not a human so- Let go of me!” Weiss repeated as he tried to move back but it seemed impossible for him. ‘Insane... this human... is truly insane, I’ve never had anyone be able to touch me...’ He thought to himself as the other pulled him in even closer.
“I’ve never touched a ghost before... this is interesting...” Ezikiel said as he moved his free hand along the other’s chest and slid across it while observing him carefully.
‘What’s with this perverted human?!’ Weiss wondered to himself as he could do nothing but watch at Ezikiel touched him all over.
“It’s so strange... my hand goes right through you anywhere else besides your hand which I’m holding...” Ezikiel made an observation as he pulled back his arm.
‘Hm?’ Weiss looked down at his body and realized the man was right. “That’s... really odd... it’s not something I’ve seen before...” He remarked in bewilderment. “How are you doing that?” He questioned with interest, as if his previous surprise had now completely faded.
“I don’t know.” Ezikiel said as he looked up at the ghost. His emotionless eyes and even less emotion stained voice seemed to make the ghost freeze in place.
“...you’re a complete idiot...” Weiss remarked as he finally managed to pull his hand away, it passed through Ezikiel’s hand as the rest of his body previously did.
“That’s...” Ezikiel seemed surprised as he looked down at his hand.
‘Wait... if this human can touch me then... does that mean? No... it couldn’t possibly be it, right?’ Weiss wondered to himself as he moved closer to Ezikiel and tried to touch the man. Just as expected his hand passed though the other’s human body as if it was never there to begin with.
“Now you’re the one trying to touch me.” Ezikiel remarked as he looked up at the man with a somewhat bored look on his face.
“Shut up...” The ghost remarked as he rolled his eyes and sighed. "What's with humans, there’s no way you can be anyone I’m looking for, yet..." He wondered to himself as he retracted his transparent hand back and looked into Ezikiel, carefully observing the man from top to bottom. “...no you’re definitely no one of interest to me...” Weiss remarked as he turned to look away from the man.
“That’s a bit rude, but still if you don’t care about me, just leave.” Ezikiel said as he headed back to the living room and ever so casually grabbed his laptop from there.
Weiss followed after Ezekiel while not once taking his eyes off of him. “Tell me human, what do you do for work? Are you a ghost hunter?” Weiss asked with a great deal of suspicion while looking at the man and expecting a serious answer from him. “You did seem a bit too calm after seeing me...” He continued.
“I didn’t even know ghosts were a thing before meeting you.” Ezikiel casually replied while opening his laptop and typing across the keyboard quickly... “I’m a freelancer...” He finally said as he showed the screen to the ghost.
“So you laze around all day and get paid for it? Or is it that you’re one of those that don’t get paid at all?” Weiss asked as he tilted his transparent head to the side while and moved closer to the man. “Hm... what a boring job... but that’s not what I asked you... if you’re not a hunter than you must be from a family of espers or maybe some other ability that would allow you to touch me...”
“No, I’m pretty sure both my parents were average people with nothing quite remarkable about them.” Ezikiel replied while tapping his fingertips onto the keyboard. “The most exciting thing my father has done was catch a 2 meter large fish from the sea and my mother managed to crochet a huge blanket that one Christmas a few years back...” He continued while looking at the screen. “My brother isn’t much more interesting either, he has a small business and works hard at it, but nothing to do with ghosts like you either...”
“Listen... I don’t need to hear your entire back-story or whatever...” Weiss said as he shrugged his transparent shoulders. “Besides I couldn’t care less about your family if they’re not special in some kind of way... damn this is becoming a bother... really...”
“You asked for it... I just told you what I know.” Ezikiel looked downwards for a while, his fingertips stopped tapping on the keyboard for a bit, he paused as if he was thinking about something difficult...
