Chapter 6: Cut and Paste Barn/Studio 11:11 A.M. After moving from California to Oklahoma, I spent the first month setting up my studio in the barn. I designed the perfect art space for myself among the hay bales, and I was delighted by the reins and saddle that someone had left behind in a corner. The studio was well-lighted, and it smelled of horses and the surrounding grasslands. I set up three massive oak tables in a U shape, and I promptly covered one of them with sheaves of different papers—silk, linen, watercolor stock, mulberry, charcoal, tissue, vellum, tracing, drawing, corrugated—and my tools—scissors, glues, paraffins, waxes, razors, punches, metal rulers, craft knives, paper cutters, embossing tools, rubber stamps, paper rollers, clear embossing powder, and heat tools.
