Chapter 3

Suitor

"Let's go there!"

We followed Emma as she dragged Nicole while Char dragged me with her leaving Noah and James behind, trying to cope up with us.

For the whole time we were in the clothing shop, we kept going in and out of the fitting room so the guys could see whether the clothes we tried on would look good on us. That is their job everytime we go out and they accompany us to shop. It irritates them for sure but they're having fun laughing at us whenever they find the clothes we tried look weird on us.

"I'll just buy drinks, do you guys want some?" Noah asks.

"HA loser! I won!" James cheered when he won against Emma while playing a game.

"I'll come with you." I told Noah who is patiently waiting for the guys, who seems like they didn't hear his question because they were too busy playing, to answer his question, 

He nodded before I took my bag and informed Nicole. We both walked silently while finding the stall of the drink we always buy.

"Its a pity that I wasn't partnered with any of the five of you for the activity." I said as he glanced at me before he nodded.

"You aren't the only one though." he said as I smiled.

"You got Kurt who is basically good at making essays so I think you'll be fine." I said smiling but he didn't show any signs of good reaction instead his forehead creased.

"You got Felix."

'Just like the way I want it to be.'

Felix's voice echoes in my ears as soon as Noah mentioned his name. I don't even know what he meant when he said that. I don't want him to put all the burden of making our paper on me, although I can do it alone, but it won't be fair.

"I don't know how Felix does his papers so I'm not really sure with how our paper will come out." I said as Noah nodded.

We bought our drinks without Noah saying anything already after that. He stayed silent until we returned to the arcade and ate dinner in a restaurant inside the mall.

"I'll see you guys on Monday!" Char said before closing the door of the car.

Since we decided to go to the mall, only James and Noah's driver waited for us in the parking lot because we told our drivers that the guys will just drop us back home. Nicole and Emma rode in James' car while me and Charlotte rode in Noah's because our villages are closer to each other.

There was an awkward silence in the backseat where me and Noah were seated. Noah was just looking over the window when my phone suddenly made a sound which indicates a notification. I look at Noah first before opening my phone to check the notification.

Felix Alcantara sent a friend request

My forehead creased after I saw the request before accepting and shortly after that, another notification popped up in my messenger.

Felix: Hi Miss Class President!

I let out a deep sigh. It will be rude to not reply to his message when I already read it.

Me: Hi Felix!

Felix: Where are you?

Me: On the way home why?

Felix: Oh okay... take care on your home! I still need you

I almost choked on my own breath before Noah looked at me confused.

"You okay?" he said while I only nod.

Me: What?

Felix: I still need you

Felix: We need to do our paper together right, partner?

I don't know why but I can feel Felix smirking wherever he is right now.

Me: Read the story and send me your opinions so it will be easier to make the essay

Me: Message me if you have any questions or clarification about the paper

I was about to lock my phone again when Felix sent another message.

Felix: Can I message you too even though I don't have any questions?

"Who are you talking with?" Noah suddenly asks curiously.

Me: Yeah do whatever you want

"Felix. It's just about our paper." I told him.

"He has your number?"

I shook my head and looked at his current annoyed face. It's getting frequent these days.

"No, he added me on Facebook." I answered as he just nodded.

We stayed silent again and I kept my phone locked despite the notifications I'm receiving until we arrived in my house.

"Thanks for the ride Noah." I said before giving him a smile in which he only returned a nod.

I hop off the car and close the door. I was about to open our gate when Noah suddenly called me.

"B-by any chance..." He looks at me before looking away. He ran his tongue over his dry lips before letting out a deep breath.

"If someone asks if they can court you... will your answer remain as no?" he asks as I look at him because of his sudden question.

He should have known the answer for his own question. "Still a no. You should have known that. Why?"

He gave me a small smile before he shook his head. "Don't mind it, go in now. It's cold."

I nod before entering our gate. I looked back as I heard their car slowly drove away from our house. I only greeted my parents and my brother when I entered the house before going in my room and taking a shower then went to sleep. It's the weekend so I really want to give myself a rest.

 “Ate!” I heard Christian’s voice echo inside my room as he bangs over the door.

I stood up while rubbing my eyes after having a good sleep. Christian showed me a sweet smile as soon as I opened the door of my room.

“Can I go in ate?” He asks politely as I smiled and nod before rubbing his hair.

He sat on the couch inside my room while I opened the curtains to let the sunlight in. “Can I watch ate?”

“Sure. I’ll just take a shower.” I told him before doing a few stretches while walking to the bathroom.

I heard the sound of the television as soon as I turned on the shower. This is somehow Christian’s hobby every morning. He will be banging on my door to wake me up and stay on my couch to watch while I am taking a bath before we both go downstairs for breakfast. It was just one of the days in a week that I found so heartwarming and felt so peaceful.

“Ate you got a message.” Christian said as soon as I went out of the bathroom in a robe to cover my body and a towel for my hair.

“Can you read it?” I said before telling him the password of my phone while going to my walk-in closet and going over my clothes to find something to wear today.

“Kuya James ask if you still have a stock of your strawberry jam because they’re going to Baguio today.” he shouted.

“Tell him that I still have one.” I shouted back while taking out a comfortable white short and a blue top.

“He said he’ll buy you one because your stock might run out soon.” Christian shouted once again.

I nod with what he said even though he can’t see me. I took my robe off before taking my underwear and clothes and then came out of the closet.

I sat in front of my vanity table taking the towel off my head before plugging the hair dryer. “Ate you got a ton of messages from... Felix? Alcantara?”

My eyes widened with the mention of his name. “He asks why aren’t you replying and asks if you're ignoring him and more.”

I put down the hair dryer even though I’m still not done before taking my phone from Christian.

“Is he your suitor ate? Or your boyfriend?” he asks as I immediately shook my head.

“He’s a new classmate of mine baby bro.” I told him before sitting next to him.

I read Felix messages and was shocked because of how many it is. I don’t know if he is just being friendly or what.

Felix: Hey!

Felix: Are you still there?

Felix: Felicity?

Felix: If you won’t answer, I’ll call you

Felix: Miss Class President!

Felix: I have a question

Felix: Why aren’t the koalas actual bears?

Felix: Because they don’t meet the koalafications!!!

Felix: Hello!! Am I still talking to someone?

Felix: Or are you asleep already?

Felix: I won’t bother you anymore then

Felix: Goodnight! Sleep well, don’t dream of me okay?

Felix: kidding ;)

I shook my head as I let out a smile with how talkative Felix is. He is being so friendly as if he is super close to me already.

A new message from him suddenly popped up when I was about to reply.

Felix: You have a hobby you know?

Me: What hobby?

Felix: Hobby of leaving me hanging

Me: Haha as if

Felix: I’m just kidding, good morning :)

Me: Good morning!

Me: Did you read the story already?

Felix: Easy tiger!

Felix: Did you dream of me?

I scoffed with his sudden question. Why am I suddenly hearing James' voice through Felix's words?

Me: No...

Me: Don’t be too full of yourself

Felix: Ouch!

Felix: You’re too harsh Felicity

Me: Don’t you have anything to do in the morning?

Felix: Except bugging you? Nothing… :)

I laugh because of how unbelievable Felix uses his words. As much as I don’t want to conclude anything, he really has a flirty mouth.

I was about to reply when I suddenly heard a rapid breathing next to me. I immediately look at Christian who is trying to catch his breath. “A-a-ate.”

“Christian?!” I look at him in panic because tears are slowly forming through his eyes.

“MOM! DAD! MANANG!” I shouted as I tried to talk to Christian and even opened the electric fan before steadying it to where he was seated.

He is holding my arm in one hand and the other is placed on the couch like he is trying to reach something when our parents and manang come into the room. “What’s wrong?”

I was crying already when my mom ran to us after seeing my brother’s state. Dad immediately lifted Christian before going downstairs with us following him.

Dad drove to the hospital as fast as he could while we were panicking because Christian already fainted but luckily we were assisted quickly when we arrived in the hospital so my brother’s breathing went back to normal already. I hold my mother’s hand as she holds Christian’s hand who is lying on the hospital bed unconscious with an oxygen mask on.

My parents talked with the doctor and asked some questions about Christian’s condition after he woke up while I was just talking with him asking about his current feeling. We returned to our house after the doctor says we can go home already and that we just need to watch over Christian for now by not letting him do things that can tire him and more.

So for the rest of the weekend, we only came out of the house when we attended the mass because mom and dad were so afraid that Christian might have another short breathing attack once again.

“So how’s Christian today?” Nicole asks.

After I told them what happened to Christian, they kept on asking me about him already since Monday because of how worried they are.

“They’re still monitoring him and mom asks for a temporary exemption for physical activities in his P.E. teacher.” I explained as they nodded.

“It's sad how he can’t play basketball with us later.” James said as Noah nodded.

Today is Wednesday and we were supposed to hang out over Emma’s house after class but due to their worries over my brother, they decided to change the location to mine.

The class continues until lunch time arrives. We were eating with Noah and James joking around, Char and Emma on their phones and talking while me and Nicole were just silently eating.

“You’re mutual?!” Emma suddenly asks shockingly.

“Whose mutual?” James asks.

“Felicity and Felix.” Char answered while looking at me in shock.

I looked at each of them before my eyes caught Felix sitting two tables far from us while talking to a random girl. His eyes caught mine before I turned my look back to my friends.

“We’re partners for our Literature class right? It's for school-related stuff.” I explained as they only gave me suspicious looks.

“I doubt that... Let me look at your phone!” Char said as she took my phone which left me in shock.

I tried to take my phone away from her when suddenly someone called my name.

“H-hi F-felicity.” I look at the guy who is a senior of us because his grade level says 4th which means 4th year.

“Hello senior.” I said, giving him a smile before taking my phone from Charlotte.

Almost everyone is looking at us, even Felix who changes his focus and completely ignores the girl he is talking with.

“I-i know there is a big impossibility b-but by any c-chance...” Please don’t let it be it. “c-can I court y-you?”

Whispers are heard everywhere in the cafeteria as our senior who just asked me is waiting for my answer. I opened my mouth but closed it again because I’m afraid he will be embarrassed once I said something that contradicts his question.

He looks at me, trying to read my face I think, before I look down silently. He sigh probably knows the answer already.

“Don’t worry, I won’t be embarrassed by this. I took the risk even though I know you always say no.” He said before giving me a fake smile to cover up what he really feels maybe.

“I’m sorry senior.” 

He smiled before walking away with his friends beside him comforting him. I felt really sorry because there’s a lot of people around us right now.

“Wow... you really know how to break someone's heart.” Nicole said as I caught James eyeing Noah suddenly.

“She does... she really does.” James said before shaking his head and looking down to his food before smirking.

“All this because of that belief of yours in fate.” Charlotte as I immediately covered her mouth.

“Will you stay silent please?” I pleaded.

“What? I mean come on! You’re wasting a lot of guys who can be your potential boyfriend already and it's all because you keep on believing in that fated love.” she explained.

“I told you... I don’t want to rush things out.” I only answered as she scoffed.

“You and Noah are just the same... you both like wasting opportunities.” Emma said before she shook his head.

“Why don’t the two of you just date?” Nicole suggested as James suddenly choked on his drink. We all looked at him shocked before he looked at Noah.

“Bro... you two date. Nicole suggested it already.” James said.

Noah scoffed and shook his head over James. “Shut up.”

We returned to our classroom shortly after that because of our next class. Our class continued until the last subject arrived.

“I’m sure all of you are working on your papers properly.” Our teacher said.

Suddenly, I felt a tap on my arm so I looked at Felix. “How about we stay in the library after class to re-check and finalize the paper already?”

“I can’t. It's Wednesday, my friends will be at our home after class.” I told him as he looked at me.

“So your hang out is much more important than our paper?” He asks that left me speechless for a moment.

Char looked back at us. “Wednesday and Friday are our circle’s hang out days so back off Alcantara.”

I look at Char shocked because of what she said. I saw James hold Char’s arm like he is stopping her forming outburst.

“Not hanging out for today is just nothing right? Besides... it's just one Wednesday and there’s an important paper we need to finalize.” Felix said to Charlotte, giving her a smile before returning his eyes on me.

“You’re the one to decide here Felicity.” he said before taking down notes again.

I let out a deep breath and was fully distracted already because of the sudden situation I got stuck myself in.

“Don’t forget to pass your papers tomorrow everyone okay?” Our teacher said before she left the room.

“I’ll wait for you in the library in case you choose to finalize our paper instead of hanging out with your friends for today.” Felix said letting my friends hear him clearly before eyeing them shortly and left the room.

I looked at my friends after I finished fixing my things and let out a deep breath.

“I know what you’ll say. Go... finish your paper.” Noah said in a serious tone as Char looked at him in disbelief.

“Seriously Noah?!” Char said, annoyed. “They can finalize the paper through messages!”

“Char you know that Feli has to secure her spot in the honors right? Let her finalize the paper and we can just wait for her in their house.” Nicole calmly said as Char ended up losing and just let out a sigh.

“Fine... but you better come back to your house before night time comes.” Char said as I chuckled because she sounds like mom.

I gave her a nod before going to the library and spotting Felix seating in one of the tables while looking at me with a smile. There’s a few of us here already because most of the students do their school work during break times instead of after class.

“Let’s get this done immediately.” I said as soon as I took a seat in front of Felix.

We talked about the parts we can change and also remove in our paper to make it more solid and proper. After finalizing it, I volunteered to write the final paper already but Felix insisted for me to do it here so it wouldn’t be unfair for my part that I still need to do our paper at home while he won’t.

I didn’t argue with him already about it and just started writing our paper. It was silent around us and I can feel Felix’s stares on me.

“You’re a walking heartbreak, you know?” he suddenly said before I glanced at him and sighed.

“What are you talking about?” I only ask.

He leaned over the table while I still keep on writing our paper. “You rejected that senior earlier because of your belief in fate love.”

I looked at him shocked because of what he said as he only laughed at my reaction. “I heard your friends teasing you about it.”

“Well... I just don’t want to be the one crying after breaking up with a guy just because I took the risk of being in a relationship. I’d rather just let fate decide than be a crying mess. Besides, we’re still young anyway.” I defended my side as he looked at me amused.

I went back to writing as he tilted his head. “How would you know that you’ll be a crying mess once you break up with someone?”

“Because that’s how most break ups are, right? You’ll cry because you lost the person you love and you’ll move on to find another guy. I don’t want that. The guy for me is just somewhere there, I'll just wait for him to come.” I answered.

Felix stayed silent after that while I continued writing. “Then should I be the guy you’re waiting for?”

I look at him as if he’s crazy.

“Can I court you Felicity Amora?”
