Chapter 5

Heavy Atmosphere

"Go Noah!!"

Charlotte shouted as Noah kicked his opponent. It's already the last round and Noah just needs to win this round to be announced as the winner of the finals for the school by school competition.

Noah did a spinning roundhouse kick before his opponent was down on the floor. All of us cheered with the knockdown before the bell rang and Noah is officially the winner of the competition. He shook his opponent's hand and went to his coach to shake his hand as well before raising his hand to us, waving as we did the same shouting his name.

"Now i'm so proud that he's my friend. You got it from me bro!" James shouted as Emma nudged him.

"Dumb ass! He is much better than you! Have some shame!" Emma exclaims as James glared at him.

Emma's competition was held last week and she got 1st place also while Nicole's dance competition was held the other day and they ended up in 2nd place which is also a great achievement already. The reason why all of us are complete right now and of course, Felix is with us due to James. They've been hanging out a lot lately after that photo exhibit we went to weeks ago and it's also because Noah hasn't returned yet so I think he finds himself a new company for a while. Despite Emma's complaints about Felix, since she was not informed that he has been with me, Charlotte and James while they are away, he still came here with us because James didn't leave him alone until he came with us..

"Your friend did great there." Felix whispered to me since he is seated on my right side while Nicole is seated on my left side.

"He's the best at it besides drawing." I commented as he smirks before looking at me.

"The best huh?" he scoffed.

I stared at him for a while before Nicole nudged me.

"You might don't want to stare back at him." she said which I gave her a disbelief look.

"I'm not." I said as she shook her head.

We went outside of the gym and took a seat on one of the benches here. The venue of the competition is not in our school that's why we are in different schools. We're actually lucky enough because our class for today was cut by 11am with the sudden teacher's seminar. That's why we got here as soon as we can after eating lunch outside since Noah's competition starts at 1pm.

I excused myself so I could go to the restroom myself but I found myself lost because this school is as big as our school and I am not even slightly familiar with the structure.

"Excuse me?" I excuse the group of 3 guys standing in the corridor since no one was around, probably due to some students being in the middle of their classes. "Can I ask where the restroom is?"

One of the guys smiled at me before pointing behind me. "Just go straight and turn right, you'll see the restrooms there."

I smiled back before saying my thanks and was about to leave when one of them suddenly stopped me.

"I think I saw you at a party already." the guy who stopped me said as I looked at him confused.

He snapped his fingers as if he got an idea already. "Empire Hotel's 25th Anniversary Celebration! You're the Empire group heiress right?"

I widened my eyes with the mention of my family business before giving him a small smile.

“So you're rich.... rich.” one of his friends emphasizes the word that I don’t want to own for myself.

Being called rich because of my grandparents and my parents' hard work for the past 25 years by running our hotel chain business is not really my thing. Despite me knowing that I will be the one to handle our business in the future, I don’t want people to call me rich because the money I’m using right now does not come from my own sweat and my own skills.

“I’m Elijah, you’re Felicity right?” the guy who stopped me said as I only nod and gave him a small smile.

“Excuse me but I really need to go to the restroom now.” I said trying to excuse myself but one of them blocked my way.

“How about just stay a few more minutes so we can talk? We’re really interested in you. Are you a senior?” the guy who blocked me asked as I shook my head.

I don’t know what I should do because this is the first time I experience such a thing since whenever I’m going somewhere, Noah and James will alternately come with the girls to make sure, what they say, that we’re safe. At first, I thought it's too much but right now I kinda know what they mean already. I just hope one of them will come after me because I really need them right now.

“Babe!”

A low voice shout behind us was heard. I looked behind one of the guys who is surrounding me right now and saw the unexpected person.

“I told you to wait for me babe.” he said while approaching me with a bright face.

The guy who is blocking him stays on his spot making me stand behind him. He reached for me, pulling me by my wrist to stand beside him before he draped his arm on my shoulder while standing in front of the group of guys.

“Why did you left alone, my Amora?” he said as I tried to shrug his arm from my shoulder but he just held me tightly before coming closer to my ear. “Don’t budge or they won’t let you go.” 

I look at him before looking at the group of guys who are eyeing the two of us. “Who are you?” one of them asks.

“I’m Felix...” he said before looking at me. “her boyfriend.”

My eyes widened with what he calls himself but I immediately recovered to not let these guys have false, if you can really call it as false, idea.

“I’m sorry baby, I just really need to go already.” I played along which made Felix eyes widened before smirking.

“So you have a boyfriend?” the guy who prevents me from going to the restroom asks as I look at him before nodding and giving him a smile.

“I didn’t see him at the party. I doubt you really have one, I bet he is just someone who comes to be your knight in shining armor.” one of them commented which made Felix look at them and smirk.

“You want proof?” he asks as the guys eyed him raising a brow.

Felix suddenly tuck a few strands of my hair behind my ear before holding my shoulder to make me face him. I realized what he was about to do which made me frozen on my spot, just staring at him, when he slowly leaned closer to my face until he was just a few inches away. His brown eyes made eye contact with mine before he flattered his eyelashes. I had a closer look to his facial features and he is almost like a perfect human being with the kind of features he had. I can feel my heart beating so fast with his action and I had a feeling that is really new to me and I don’t like that feeling.

I didn’t know that the group of guys had already left until he moved his face a few inches away from mine before blowing on my face to bring me back to my senses. “They’re gone.” he said.

I looked beside me and saw that those guys were really gone before I let out a deep breath, feeling relieved that those guys finally left. I put my attention to Felix's hands that are still placed on my shoulders and his body and face being just a few inches away from me.

“C-can you move?” I asked looking away before I felt him scoffed and smiled.

“What if I don’t want to?” he asks, trying to scoot even more closer as I gulp with his actions.

“You look even more beautiful up close.” he commented before I pushed slightly as he laughed.

I glared at him before I walked myself first to the restroom supposedly to leave him there. “Hey! You don’t leave the person who just saved you from a bunch of weird guys!”

He shouted as I tried to not look back at him while he’s following. He’s even weirder than those guys! What is he even talking about?!

I was about to enter the restroom when I felt that Felix was about to do the same. “Where are you going? This is the girl’s restroom.”

“So? I’ll wait for you outside the cubicle.” he answered as I smack his arms before he looks at me in disbelief.

“Are you crazy?!” I asked him but he just laughed before leaning to the wall beside the restroom’s door.

“Go do your thing fast or else I’ll go inside and pull you out.” he said, signing me to go to the restroom already.

I rolled my eyes before going inside and followed what he said as I did my thing as fast as I could.

“You really finished your thing fast.” he commented as we walked out of the corridor and went to the open area of this school to go to the place where my friends are.

“I just know you’ll really enter if I won’t do it fast.” I just said.

For the past few months since he transferred, I observed that he’s the type of guy who keeps his words. Even though there’s a small doubt that he’ll really enter the restroom earlier and pull me out, it's still for the best to finish fast because I’m sure that my friends are looking for me already.

I saw my friends, with Noah already out of the gym, pacing back and forth surely worried because I’m taking so long. Emma looked at me and Felix side before standing up and running towards the two of us.

“What took you so long?!” she asks before eyeing Felix. “And why is he with you?”

Felix stood beside James who is now eyeing him also but he did not even budge.

“Chill Emma, I just help your dear Felicity there. You should thank me instead of giving me countless glares.” Felix defends himself but he does not look like he is really bothered with the idea of my friends glaring at him.

Noah eyed Felix before looking at me with his forehead creased. He is now wearing a simple black shirt with a graphic as a design and gray jogger pants with his crossbody duffel bag hanging on his body. “What is he talking about?”

It feels like there’s a lump on my throat when Noah says that because I know for sure that he and James won’t just let things go once they find out what happened. That’s how protective and worried they are all the time.

“There’s a group of guys who are trying to hit on her while she’s on the way to the restroom. They trapped her in between them and since I happened to go to the restroom as well, I saved her.” Felix explained as I only gulped because I wasn’t able to say anything.

I look at Noah and James who look at each other with their serious face on. “Which room are they in?” James asks.

Felix looks at them like he is amused or something. “Don’t even dare James Isaac.” Charlotte warned.

“They trapped and tried to hit on her, Charlotte Isabelle. Do you expect us to just let it go?” James argued back.

“We’re visitors here James, it's not right to cause trouble in another school. You’ll get suspended.” Charlotte said as Nicole and Emma tried to help calming James and Noah down.

“You both don’t want to get kicked out of the taekwondo team, don’t you?” Emma asks as Felix stands by my side.

He scoffed and stared at James and Noah. “Now I get what you mean.” he said.

I look at him confused by what he is saying. “Over protective. I think I’ll have a hard time.” he said as I just sigh and turn my attention to my friends.

“James Isaac, Aiden Noah. Calm down please.” I said as they both looked at me. “Felix already helped to get rid of those guys. I’m fine okay?”  I assure them before James lets out a deep breath.

Emma and Nicole let go of their wrist when they felt that the two already calmed down. As I also let out a deep breath because of the thought of them causing trouble in another school is not a very good thing. Despite Noah bringing an achievement in the school right now, it won’t erase the fact that he got in trouble and I don’t want them to be scolded by their parents just because of me.

“So what are you their personal psychiatrist?” Felix asks, whispering. I looked at him in disbelief but he shrugged and chuckled.

We left after that to help the two calm down more before we went home and spend the rest of the night with our family. Of course, Felix is still pestering me through messenger so I can’t really tell if my night is peaceful or what.

What he did earlier is still lingering in my mind especially how close his face is to me. Felix calling me baby or babe still gives me goosebumps because I never expect him to call me that even though it's for urgent matter, a matter in saving me from being trapped.

I hop off the car and enter the school entrance before turning right to walk in the corridor. I was silently walking my way to my classroom when I saw a guy and a girl suddenly look at me before whispering to each other. What is happening this time?

When I arrived in my classroom, my friends greeted me and I felt the eyes of our classmates when Felix sat on his seat greeting me good morning before giving me a smile. They continuously give us a look until the first break arrives.

Me and Nicole were walking back to our classroom after going to the restroom when we saw Charlotte with a guy. The guy is standing tall and has fair skin with a not-so broad shoulder and has a black neat hair.

Charlotte saw us and I caught a glimpse of how her eyes widened before she said something to the guy and ran towards our direction. I look behind him to see the guy looking at Charlotte before she looks at me and giving me a smile then left.

“Who’s that Char?” Nicole said, staring at the guy’s back before turning her eyes to Charlotte.

“Just a fellow member in the club and a senior.” she answered before standing between me and Nicole and encircling each of her arms to our arm then dragged us back to our classroom.

The class continued until our last subject, P.E, arrived and we went to the gym all together. Since this is our last subject already, our bags are already with us so we can go home immediately after.

We took a seat on the third row of the bleachers in the gym waiting for our teacher to come. I roamed my eyes around the room and saw a group of our male classmates approaching Felix who was sitting in the first row. One of the guys glanced at me before returning their eyes on Felix which made me confused.

Our female classmates suddenly sat to the second row, below us, and gave me a knowing smile. “So... the reason why you’re rejecting the other guys is because Felix already got you? You’re really amazing Felicity!”

One of them exclaimed as my forehead creased in confusion. My friends eyed our female classmates because of what one of them says.

“What do you mean Venus?” Charlotte says who is seating on my left side with Noah on my right and James on his side.

“Everyone says that Felicity and Felix are dating after Felix called her his girlfriend while protecting her from those guys in the school Noah competed in yesterday.” one of them explained as my eyes widened before I immediately looked at Felix who was staring at me.

Nicole, Charlotte, Emma, and James look at me in shock while Noah is just staring in front with a serious face. “W-we’re not dating.” I denied.

The girls laugh, teasing me that there’s nothing to deny. “The girl from second class who watched the competition yesterday saw what happened yesterday, don’t need to deny it Felicity!” one of them said, even giving my arm a slight smack.

“But we really aren’t dating. He just helped me get away from those guys.” I said as they looked at one another, eyeing each other.

“But the girl said, Felix is about to kiss you yesterday.” Venus commented that made me gulp when Noah suddenly stood up and left the bleachers before going in the middle of the court and getting a ball.

Charlotte, Nicole and Emma look at me like they are demanding an explanation. “If Feli says that they are not dating, then they aren’t. Understood?” James says to the girls before they nod and leave us.

“So? Care to explain?” Emma immediately asks.

“I told you Felix is just trying to help me get away from those guys yesterday. He already explained his side yesterday, remember?” I answered which made them shake their head except Nicole who is just looking at me.

“And that Felix kissed you?! Feli! What was that?” Charlotte commented as I waved my hand in front of them trying to say that it was nothing.

“He didn’t kiss me okay? Those guys yesterday just don’t want to believe in his words...” I start.

“Well it's not really true anyway.” James suddenly said but I cut him off.

“So Felix had to do something and pretend that he’ll do it even though he won’t to make those weird guys disappear.” I explained as they sigh and shook their heads. “Trust me. It's nothing.”

“You better make sure because Felix really looks like a playboy like James here. So don’t even bother getting involved in his business.” Emma commented as I was about to complain about her judgements to Felix but I know it's not the right time but I felt really bad for Felix because he is receiving such words when he didn’t even know that he receives one.

James went to Noah after complaining about his name getting involved again. Our teacher arrived later on before he announced that the boys will do basketball today while the girls will do volleyball.

I went down from the bleachers before tying my hair up when Felix suddenly approached me. I’m planning to ignore him because of the issue that built up between the two of us but he stopped me by my wrist before I could even walk away.

“So what I get after saving you yesterday is you ignoring me?” he questioned as I looked at him forming a thin line on my lips.

“I’m sure you heard that there’s an issue about us dating because of what you said yesterday. I don’t want the kids to get the wrong idea.” I said explaining my reason but he just scoffed.

“I don’t think there’s nothing wrong with it.” he said as I looked at him in disbelief. “It will come true anyway.”

I looked away when he whispered it to himself but enough for me to hear it. I suddenly heard a loud stomp from the bleachers as Noah appeared on my side.

“Your game’s about to start.” he said before giving Felix a look and left.

“Noah’s pissed.” Felix commented. “Have fun in your game. Don’t hurt yourself.” he said before patting my head and left.

I was left dumbfounded but immediately shrugged it off when Charlotte called my name because our game is about to start. We were having fun passing the ball back and forth from the other side to the other when a commotion on the other court was heard.

When I turned my head, I saw James trying his best to pull Noah away from Felix who is being pulled away by one of our classmates also with our teacher getting in between them eyeing the both.

“He started it sir! He’s treating this as if it's a real game!” Felix complained in which Noah scoffed.

“If you weren’t such a damn ass then things wouldn’t be like this!” Noah shouted back as Felix smirked at him which only pissed Noah off more.

Charlotte, Emma, Nicole, and I ran towards them. “You two stop this! If you don’t want to be suspended!” our teacher said before Noah, who is still clenching his jaw, and Felix, who is just smirking, nod.

Our teacher left before Charlotte smacked Noah’s arm while Emma eyed Felix who was standing beside me. “What the hell is wrong with the two of you?!” Nicole exclaims.

Noah looks at me before he looks at Felix. “He’s a f*****g ass!” Noah responded, giving me shock because of his cursing.

He left, getting his bag since we’re only a minute away before dismissal, after saying that with James running after him. I looked at his frustrated back and wondered what happened this time. The four of us went to the bleachers to fix ourselves and our bags.

I felt a sudden pat on the top of my head making me turn to my side. “Don’t think about it. He’s just making things personal.”

I only look at Felix before giving me a smile. “Take care on your way home. I’ll see you next week.” he said before bidding his goodbye to the girls who's looking at him in disbelief.

I watched Felix leave the gym before shaking my head. I looked at the girls and saw them blinking their eyes.

“What the f**k?!”
