Chapter Thirty-Eight:
“We will be taking off shortly please buckle up, safety first!” Called a voice overhead as the aircraft doors shut and suddenly we were lurching down the runway and then we were airborne.
My breathing was ragged and sounded like gasps as I squeezed Dustin’s hand as we climbed even higher. He squeezed my hand, making me look at him and he smiled his sweet smile.
“This is my first time flying and I get to do it with you. How awesome is that. I really have to thank your Dad for letting me go with you and pleading my case to my Mom.” He sighed and leaned back in his seat. “I heard it’s supposed to be a rather short flight but at least I get to spend time with you.”
