Jesse couldn’t get back to sleep after having already slept away the afternoon and early evening. She had been looked in on by the lady from Protective Services who had brought her dinner consisting of Chinese takeaways and sat down to go over everything with her again, making sure she was mentally coping. Jesse was grateful for the company strangely enough. Beth, as she had told Jesse to call her, was really nice – in a worn out, over her mind-f*****g job kind of way. Jesse guessed that sort of job made people see the worst side of humanity and probably left them quite jaded.
