Adler pulled his car over to the kerb and looked over to the playground. It was just getting dark and the security lights had come on illuminating the playground. He could see a lone, hooded figure sitting on the swing, gently swishing back and forth, dragging their feet, their head raised up looking in the car’s direction.
He smiled as Trey clapped him on the shoulder.
“See…I told you.” Trey gloated.
“I’m shocked to be honest.” Adler said as he undid his seatbelt and opened his door.
He felt nervous as he walked through the playground and up to Jesse as she lifted her head more so he could see her face within her hood. Her eyes appeared really large peering up at him, apprehensive.
