Jesse woke with a startling jolt as if from a nightmare, blinking at the daylight that was streaming in through the gap in the closed curtains as she lay on her side and faced the covered window. A strong muscular arm tightened in reflex and pulled her back into an equally muscular and hard torso.
“You’re awake…shhh…it’s okay…take a deep breath.” The voice was deep, calm and strangely soothing. She stiffened but recognised the voice. She became fully aware slowly as sleep left her that she was lying in bed with Adler Fenrir.
He nuzzled his face into her hair at the back of her neck as he pressed himself against her back. Jesse gasped as her memories came flooding back.
