Chapter 17 Beck had had a shitty few weeks, moping about and missing Jordan. He hadn’t expected him to keep in touch, though he’d hoped for it, so he wasn’t exactly surprised when he and Jordan barely communicated. He’d vowed to give Jordan a little more time to settle in, to think, and then he’d try again and find out for sure if Jordan had moved on or was just scared. But all that flew out the window when he woke up to this. Well, first it was Cory, banging on his door at three thirty in the morning and demanding he get outside. As soon as he saw the gouges in the sides of the garage and processing barn and the spray-painted slurs on his house, he raced for the orchard. He didn’t even think to get out the UTV, but he didn’t have to go far to see several trees lying on their sides, cut
