The rains showed up the last week in October. The ground turned to mud that promptly froze as the temperature dropped overnight, and there was nothing left to be done on the farm. At least not for Jordan. Beckett would spend the next few months out in the orchard, assessing his trees and pruning and trimming. He’d gotten rid of what he could over the past few weeks, but there were some things that just couldn’t be done until the trees were bare. Ultimately that was something he and Cory would handle.
