I looked up too the sky and a bliss as I thought about my mother and her words. “Think of the world we live in as a small rock in a giant universe.” I think I finally get those deep words she meant. I had realized that what she really meant was that me and her were growing apart and that I was the universe and she was the small rock.
“We got a code F in room two hundred.”
I sat up from the roof and took the stairs to the main floor. I tied my hair up in a tight bun and placed my gloves and mask on. My team gathered around me as we went off to the room.
“This is Irish East, she’s twenty four with stage four cancer. She suddenly got a heart attack and was found passed out on the street.” The assurant says as she filters the blood.
I looked at the women as she lied on the bed with blood from her mouth and her face with picked scars on. She looked as though she had been stressing for a bit.
I started by making sure she stayed awake and my team cleaned her body up before Marley placed the anesthesia on the patients mouth. “Alright Irish I need you to calm down I promise you’re going to be fine.” Matt says as he looks at her and she looked back but her eyes softly closed, “What a sad case.” He mumbled.
It was true since stage four cancer was awful. Being left alone on a street, waiting for death. It’s terrible.
“Okay her hearts dying, is she signed up for the next heart transplant?” I said as I looked at her eyes too see if they dilated.
“She is but it’s not till next month.”
“Okay? We need that heart now, get it ready and prepare for surgery.” I said and no one questioned me as they all rushed to get everything in order.
It was about six hours until surgery was done and the team looked exhausted. “Who’s heart was it?” I asked as I looked at the patient as she was sound asleep.
“Twenty year old who passed away in his sleep last week.” Matt said as he took his bloody gloves off. I did as well.
My heart sunk hearing those words and I could only sigh and touch the little cross on my neck.
I cleaned myself up a bit as I grabbed my clipboard and went to the lobby. I wondered if she had any family and without a doubt a family of three rushed up to me, “Are you the East family?” I asked.
“Yes? How’s my sister is she okay?” The girl asked as she wiped her salty tears.
I wondered.
“Irish is okay. Her heart was on her last leg so we bumped her date up and has been saved. Her cancer is still there so please look at some treatment alone from her doctor.” I recommended to which they nodded with sad and disappointing looks.
“Thank you doctor.” They said and I bowed and left as I cracked my neck a bit.
The day ended shortly and I came home to a quiet home. Well so I thought when my bunny jumps on my legs and I swoon. I had my bunny, Elu for a year now and he has grown so much.
“Hi my precious,” I said as I picked him up and placed him in my arms, taking my shoes off and sitting on my sofa, “You didn’t tear my house up did you?” I said teasingly as I kissed his fur.
I sat Élu in his cage and went to my room as I sat in my bed. What an exhausting day.
I heard a loud bang causing me to jump up and I get in my slippers and place my jacket on as I open the door.
It was nearing dark and it was attempting to rain. Maybe it was the wind. I turned to the side and gasped seeing a woman with crazy white hair in front of me.
“f*****g hell..” I whispered as I stood back.
“Sorry about that doll,” The women said as her southern accent catches my ears.
“Can I help you with something?” I said as I wrapped my arms around my body. I noticed there was a van outside and it made me hold onto my door.
“Oh don’t tell me you don’t remember, we chatted a few years back about the kid with the missing kidney?”
I looked at her and sighed as I raised a brow, I then remembered her quickly, “You were quiet rude about a kid who had just dyed.” I said.
“Oh please, you haven’t seen rude yet.” She snarled in a threatening tone. I grimaced as I backed away.
“Are you threatening me?”
“If you want it to be a threat then so it shall be.”
I rolled my eyes pathetically as I turned back around, attempting to close my door but she stopped it as she used her hand and foot to keep it opened. “Look, I need you to come with me. I need a doctor with good hands and I know you’re that person. You’re the best in the city.”
“You just threatened me and now you want my help?” I scoffed.
“A friend of mines has heart problems and is dying rather quickly.”
“You’ll have to wait like the many other lives that need heart transplants. Now if you mind removing yourself?” I said rather annoyedly to which the girl sighed.
She looked to the van and curtly nodded, “I knew you’d say that.” Suddenly she grabs my arm and pushes me out to the grass as she closed the door. Two men suddenly came behind me, lifting me up.
“Oh my god! You can’t do this, let me go!” I yelled but it was useless as they took me away to the van. I kicked and thrashed and screamed but one guy help a white cloth on my mouth and I knew what that smell was.
My eyes went heavy and my mind dizzy.
“Lets see how this goes.” The southern accent girl says.
“It’ll be fun.” A man said and then my eyes completely shut.
