Eve's POV
The smell of the freshly polished oak desk made my stomach turn. I didn't see why they had to get it polished. I would have loved it just the way Granny used it while she was in charge. It smelled like wax wiped with a horse’s ass.
Wendy was saying something about most of the daily stuff I needed to do and the things she was going to handle. I could tell by the way she looked at me that she didn't like me at all. She didn’t approve of me. Most people didn’t.
It didn't matter much especially since she was everything I didn't want to be. An aged spinster probably in her late forties with no hope of getting laid or love; whichever comes first. Her companions were probably a troop of cats in a lonely apartment off the city.
"Do you understand it all?"
I nodded giving her a thumbs up. I didn't understand s**t but I would have rather sat down in front of an active highway than let her repeat all she had said again.
She stood above me with the patient calm of a hawk. A slightly obese hawk. That was being too generous since she was overweight. Her presence made me feel tense and edgy. She consumed most of the space in the office.
"That will be all. Thanks, Wendy."
Get the f**k away. Don't you have some students to hunt or something? I thought.
She hovered for some moment before leaving the office. It felt like the office suddenly opened up and got bigger without her in it. Finally, I was alone. I sighed.
The introduction they had held in the gym had been overkill. It would make most of the students hate me instinctively. That wasn't going to be a problem seeing as I was going to win them over.
I took out my phone from my bag and replied to the Tinder text I got from the guy that had been bugging me for almost a week. With Matt gone, I could get any d**k and I wanted that. I wanted to be f****d massively for the first time in a long time.
Just when I dropped my phone on the table, it rang out making me flinch. I almost jumped out of the chair but relaxed when I saw the caller ID- Ellie. Oh, Ellie!
“God! I missed you.” I cried out holding the phone to my ear.
She sounded relieved as she said, “Ditto.” “Is it that bad?” Ellie asked.
I told her it wasn’t then went on to narrate all that had happened that morning. I told her about Wendy, the stuck-up secretary.
“Sounds like you in a couple of years from now if you continue like this.” She commented snorting into the phone.
“Take that back!” I gasped.
She laughed. “No,” Ellie said snorting some more.
I felt a little bit better by the end of the call. Most of the awkwardness of the day had gone away from my system. She invited me over to a party. I told her I’d show up by 5 pm, an hour before my date with the Tinder guy.
I forgot to tell her about breaking up with Matt. He had called me twice that morning and texted me a lot. I didn’t see any reason to reply. It was pointless as f**k.
The blouse I wore was itchy and it didn’t make it easier to know my bra was bigger than my t**s. It made me look and feel weird.
I was tempted to take off the damn bra and kick off the heels I was wearing. It just wasn't me.
There was a file on the table. I tried to remember what Wendy had said when she dropped the file. I couldn't remember the specific details but I knew it was urgent. It had to be urgent for her to drop it in front of my friggin' face.
The file had papers in them. It was information on the students. Their personal files.
I went through the first group and noticed it wasn't a file on all the students. It was a record of just the delinquents.
There were seven of them in total. Mostly guys but the last file caught my interest. It was a blonde boy. Noah.
He hadn't done anything worth adding him to the group. According to the file, he was a straight student but he had been involved in a public situation where a classmate had posted his nudes. Rather than make him the laughingstock of the entire school, it had made him popular.
The Noah kid didn't deserve the bad record but Wendy left a note indicating he was the worse so far.
"You've gotten through to reading the files," Wendy said as she walked into the office without knocking. "What do you think?"
I almost jumped out of my skin. It took a minute for me to get a hold of myself. She didn't seem to notice she had startled me by being creepy.
"Is knocking too much to ask for?" I said thinking out loud.
Wendy stiffened. She apologized for it and I told her it was okay. As long as it didn't happen again. If it did, I was going to take a swing at her.
"This kid…" I waved the last file. "He doesn't seem that bad."
Wendy took the file to check its contents. She gasped when she saw whose name was on the intro page. It was almost like she was going through the file of a death row inmate.
I still couldn't understand what made the kid a bad urn.
"He's the worse." She said closing the file.
"Noah had an incident last year and since then he has had more female attention than we would be comfortable admitting."
"Wait. You mean-"
"Yes," Wendy nodded. "They all want it."
I found it fascinating rather than frightful the way Wendy saw it. She would have gotten the mothers of the female students to form a mob with pitchforks and torches if she had that sort of pull.
Wendy gave me a disapproving look seeing the way I read from Noah's file with interest. It was almost as if she wanted me to frown and throw fits at what I saw.
Then it dawned on me she had come for a reason. Why was she in my office pestering me?
"Did you forget something?" I asked trying hard to sound respectful.
Wendy nodded. Her thick neck bobbed and I imagined how awkward she would look having s*x.
"I forgot to take you on the unofficial tour," Wendy said with a smile.
She looked as if she was going to enjoy the tour more than me. It showed in the way her eyes glowed. It reminded me of a teenage girl's reaction to finding the perfect dress to wear to her first prom.
"Let's go then," I said getting up enthusiastically.
It was a better alternative than sitting in the office all day doing nothing.
Wendy led me through the halls pointing out the music room and science labs. We turned a corner and walked into a familiar hallway that led to the gym where we had done the introduction.
She showed me the class wings and then the medical unit of the school. Everything seemed to be in perfect condition. It was impressive to know I was in charge of the whole scene.
"And over here is the cafeteria." She pushed a door open that led to a big room. There were benches set in different formations around the room.
I took two steps and glanced into the room from the doorway. Some of the students turned to watch me while some continued with whatever they were doing before completely ignoring me.
A boy at the far end turned around and for a moment he seemed startled. I knew I'd seen him somewhere but I couldn't remember where. Short blonde hair and oceanic blue eyes. Where have I seen him before? I thought.
Wendy sighed impatiently. I took the hint and turned around following her back to the office. She stopped at her desk while I entered my office.
Some hours later I was back at my apartment with Ellie trying to find a perfectly subtle slutty dress to wear to the party. I'd stay for the party for a while then run off to meet my Tinder date.
Ellie went through the profile of my Tinder date and shrieked hungrily. The guy looked delicious. He was like an American version of Dwayne Johnson.
"This guy looks too good to be real." She sighed holding back a squeal.
I know. I felt the same way when I'd swiped right. He was a juicy hunk whose d**k I was going to get in my almost numb p***y all...night...long...
The party was wild and seemed to get wilder with every passing second. I wore a black dress cut low from the back. It showed my curves and shape flawlessly. It was perfect for the party and even more so for the date.
My Tinder date called me to meet him outside an average restaurant. I got an Uber to take me there. My hands felt clammy and it was hard to control my nerves. I didn't want to come out as a nervous mess.
The driver pulled up at the restaurant and I got out feeling even more awkward that he wasn't there yet. I was about to call the number he had called me with when a thickset man walked over to me.
He smiled at me looking weirdly like a caricature version of Gru in Despicable Me.
"Yes?" I smiled nervously in response putting the phone to my ear.
He said, "You must be Eve." He gave me a look over slowly. "It's me, Walter."
Walter?
It was the name my Tinder date had used on his profile but the man standing in front of me was definitely not my Tinder date. Hell no!
I chuckled thinking it was some type of joke. A sick prank maybe. There had to be some sort of explanation.
"You look more stunning than your profile." The strange man who called himself Walter said.
You look nothing like your profile if you really are my Tinder date, I thought.
"One minute." I said turning away from him to continue with my call. There had to be a mixup somewhere. There had -
The strange man's phone chimed in sync with the call I was making. Oh f**k! It was him.
I turned to look at him again. It was wrong. It was all wrong. His bald head look like he had been licked by a demon from birth. There was nothing attractive about him deflated appearance, not even the mustache he kept looked good on him.
I sighed. f*****g hell!
I'd just been catfished.
