Walking down the streets to go to a coffee shop, I felt sick to my stomach again thinking how bad my father's condition was.

Everything was good until I started working for that entertainment company.

I don't know if I was lucky or it was a tragedy. I was selected in one go after the interview one month ago for the assistant position of the CEO.

It was strange enough for me to work in a company as an assistant to the CEO and never met him.

I brushed off the odds and continued working as the salary was more than enough to pay for my father's medical bill. I was so invested in my thoughts that I didn't know where or who I was walking with. And bang, I collided with a wall of muscles.

" I am so sorry," I said quickly, taking two steps back.

" No worries, we are all in a hurry," he said, turning back to face me.

A low gasp of surprise left my mouth as I stood there staring at him shamelessly. He looked like a model walking out of a magazine. His eyes were a beautiful shade of amber with high cheekbones and a sharp jawline. His skin was flawless; there was a mystery in his personality.

" I am so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going," I said.

" It's all right," he said, with a friendly smile playing on his lips. I gave him a small smile and looked up to see we were both standing outside of the coffee shop.

" Since we are here, let me treat you to a cup of coffee," I offered him out of embarrassment.

" It's really alright, but since a beautiful girl like you asked, I will not refuse. And I do need a cup of coffee," he said.

I smiled at him and motioned for him to enter, but to my surprise, he walked in front of me and held the door open, making my knees go weak.

I ordered a go-to coffee for both of us as we were already running late. We both left the coffee shop after I paid for the coffee.

" I still don't know the name of the beauty who just treated me to a coffee," he said. My cheeks burned as he said those words.

" Bella, Bella Smith," I said.

" Adam," he said with a smile.

" I should get going now, my boss will arrive any time soon," I said to him.

" See you soon, Ms. Bella," he said.

I gave him an awkward smile before turning around towards the subway, thinking we may never see each other again.

I looked at my wrist watch and saw I was going to be 15 minutes late. My eyes went wide as I cursed myself.

"Bang!!!!

I felt like I had hit a wall. The coffee I was holding was now all over my cream satin shirt.

" s**t,"

" Watch where you are going," a deep voice said with a rumble, making me shudder at the authority of his voice.

I looked up to see a pair of beautiful blue ocean-like eyes staring down at me.

Good god! He was a Greek god and eye candy.

He looked more than 6 ft, with a huge build and a face that was more than handsome. There was something in him that made my heart pound in my ribcage.

" I am…. I am sorry,"I said, clearing my throat.

" Watch his cat or else you could have been crushed," he said with a smirk playing on his lips and anger in his eyes.

With that, he grabbed my arm and pulled me aside to make way for himself and walked away towards where Adam had just been. My mouth hung open because of his actions. What is he? A caveman?

" Fucker. It was clearly your fault. You jumped right in front of me. Giving me no time to move aside," I said, rather screaming at his retreating back. He stopped and looked back at me, making me chew my inner cheeks. He gave me a look that made my soul crawl under my skin, before turning back and walking away.

" Yup, couldn't have any better start," I mumbled to myself and walked to the subway. I was just in time to catch the metro.

As soon as the door of the metro opened, I rushed forward like a storm and ran for my dear job.

Finally, after a five minute marathon, I reached the lobby panting.

" You are fourteen minutes late, Miss. Smith," Martha said, looking down at her wrist watch. She is a wonderful lady in her Fortis. She has always shown love and kindness to me from the first day. She was the one who supported me after I got the job, because there were many employees who blamed me for getting this job in one go. Nina was on the top.

Nina even spread rumours about me being the w***e of the CEO.

" Is he here already?" I asked nervously, wrinkling my eyebrows.

" Yes," she said.

" And is waiting for you in his office," she added.

" Shoot me, Martha," I said, earning a chuckle from her.

" Don't worry, he won't bite you," she said.

" Now, off you go," she said, pushing me into the elevator that was directed just outside his office.

I got in and waited. As soon as I heard the dinging sound, I drew in a sharp intake of breath. I stepped out and started to walk towards his office. Everyone on this floor works without minding anyone's business except for Nina and her colleagues.

The only sound I could hear at that moment was the sound of my clicking heels against the floor, my drumming heart and typing of the keyboard.

' Nothing is going to happen.'

I chanted these words in my head while standing outside of his office. I took a few more deep breaths to calm myself before knocking on the door.

" Come in," he said from inside.

Without any single thought in my mind, I pushed the door open only to see he was seated behind the table and his back was facing me.

" I am sorry I am late," I said quickly before he could think of firing me.

" It won't happen again," I added.

"Ummm," he only hummed in response, which made me a little irritated.

" I forgive you for the sake of the coffee I had this morning," he said, turning to face me.

My eyes were bulging in shock. What on earth?

" Nice to see you again, Bella," he said, purring my name at the end. oddly it send some sensation through my spine to my core
