It was in the early hours of the morning when something roused Brett from a deep slumber. He was groggy and disorientated, still tired from the long day. With no small amount of effort, he lifted his head from the pillow and through half-closed eyes looked up at the light filtering in through the thin fabric of the curtains. His head returned to the pillow for a few seconds while he gathered his thoughts, then he sat bolt upright when he realized that the bed next to him was empty. Suddenly animated, he leapt to his feet and flew across to the window facing the road. He flung the curtains apart and saw that the Holden was where he’d parked it along with three other cars that had been parked there when they arrived. He looked over his shoulder at the en suite bathroom and noticed that it w
