Chapter 1: Canada “Morgan, Morgan, wake up!” Nate Spenser leaned up on an elbow and gently shook his boyfriend. Morgan O’Connor opened his eyes and half sat up with a start. “What? Was I doing it again?” “Yeah,” Nate replied. “You okay?” Both men lay back down. Morgan turned over onto his back. Nate snuggled up next to the smaller man and draped a leg across him. “Yeah. I’m okay,” Morgan said. “But you don’t remember what you were dreaming about?” “No. Was it the same as last time?” “Yes. And the two or three times before that.” “What was it like? The sound I was making, I mean.” Nate shrugged. “I’m not sure. Kind of like an animal. A dog maybe.” “I was barking?” “No, not barking. Sort of…howling.” “And it’s always the same?” “Yeah.” Morgan took a deep breath. He wished he could remember what he’d been dreaming about. He knew he was dreaming, but nothing, not one detail, stayed with him once he was awake. Why am I having these dreams? he thought.
