Unknown's POV
Sierra was squaring up to Justin to fight in front of everyone, a little motivation tactic that didn't seem like it was going to be forgotten. Everyone in this room needed motivation, they were all complacent whining pups, who were too busy thinking their little Luna was always going to be around to save them; how wrong they were about that. James and I had been conspiring for a year now, and I had just learned of new developments that might move the timeline of the plan up, and make things easier for us.
I decided to watch Sierra and Justin fight for a while, because I was curious about her powers in a fight. She didn't use them all that often, and with her being so busy lately, it had been a while since she had used them at all. The two of them were dancing around each other, waiting for the other to strike.
It seemed Sierra's powers were her telekinesis that manifested itself first. She also had increased reflexes, so she was able to move rather quickly and anticipate her opponents' moves. I had been doing a lot of research on primordials this past year, and it seemed like some had more power than others, it just depended on the wolf. Some were able to detect lies in others and read minds. I always thanked the Moon Goddess she couldn’t do either of those things, or we would have been killed a long time ago.
"Do you really think she would kill us?" my wolf asked. "I mean with everything we've done, I bet once she finds out what's happening, she'll forgive us and let us live."
"You say that as if she's going to get the chance. She won't get the chance to kill us or not because she's going to spend the rest of her life as a power bank for whoever pays the highest amount of money for her. We have a plan to keep her quiet, and once we pass her to the black-market smugglers, we'll never see her again. We'll play along and plant the evidence for Aaron to find pointing to Alpha Cal and that'll be the end of it."
"Those smugglers are going to want a large cut for transporting her."
"Who cares, we're going to get millions for her, possibly billions if we sell her to the right person." I kept watching Sierra and Justin battle it out as he went flying through the air and crashed down on a pile of workout mats we used for sparring. I did have to smile at how powerful she had become; it was impressive. Everyone in the room was gasping, covering their eyes, or wide eyes as they fought.
Justin was fighting back well, but we all knew Sierra was going to end up on top. I wanted to slip out while they were still distracted and wouldn't notice, although I could come up with a good excuse if she noticed my absence. Going through the back door, I trudged through the deep snow to a secluded part of the woods to make the phone call I had been waiting for. I dialed James’ number and waited for him to pick up.
"Do you have any news?" was his immediate response.
"Well, hello to you too," I replied.
"Whatever, why did you call?"
"I just heard some interesting information I thought we might be able to use to our advantage."
"What's that?"
"I heard that when Aaron was on his business trip, another wolf really tried hard to sleep with him."
"So? How in he** does that help us?"
"What I was thinking is, if we find out what pack she's in, we could make sure she's invited to the Alpha Summit. She's the daughter of the pack's Beta, so it wouldn't be uncommon for her to attend. I bet once she hears where it's held, she'll be begging to go."
"Okay, I can ask around and figure out where she's from. What's her name?"
"Heather."
"You don't have a last name?"
"I'm sure I could get that from Aaron."
"Okay, because I can't go around asking about a random Heather from Chicago. Heather is a very common name."
"Fine, I'll figure out her name and her pack."
"Good, call me back once you have that."
"Wait! At least let me tell you the rest of my plan."
"Fine, what is it?"
"Well, maybe we can sway her in our direction or at least convince her to go after Aaron that night. Keep him busy for a while so we can take Sierra."
"You want to take her the night of the Alpha Summit?"
"Yes."
"You want to take her during a time when some of the most powerful Alpha's are all in the same place at the same time?"
"No one's going to find out. Aaron will be passed out with Heather, and we're not going to hurt Sierra, so he won't be able to feel it. It won't look weird if she's walking with me and another Alpha. As the Luna, it's part of her duties to entertain her guests."
"That seems like a big gamble to take. We've worked hard on this plan; I don't want it going up in flames because we moved too early." My wolf was growling in my head at James’ inability to see the bigger picture. I knew this was a good plan and was going to work; why was he not getting that?"
"Look, I've thought about this, and it makes perfect sense."
"I'm starting to think maybe we should be the ones going for the Alpha title. You really want to have to take orders from this guy?"
"It's fine, he's just scared because he hasn't spent the time with them like we have. We know them better than most people."
"You better be right, because if this i***t blows up our plan, I'll kill him myself."
"How much of this plan have you told the Alpha?" I asked.
"Only what he needs to know and nothing more. The last thing we need is him messing things up for us."
"I don't think I'm explaining this well, so let me try again. We get Heather involved only to the point where we make sure she comes to the Summit. She'll be all over Aaron and maybe we can slip him some sleeping pills or something, keep him occupied for a couple hours towards the end of the night. That's when we make our move. I'll lure Sierra into a secluded area and inject her with silver. That should give me enough time to get the chains on her that you've enchanted. She's never been injected with silver before, so I'm hoping it has a longer effect on her. At least long enough for us to sneak her out into a car. I know a couple of spots where we could drive where no one would see us, and with the Summit, all the warriors are going to be busy. It's the perfect plan." James didn't say anything right away but took in everything I said. I could almost hear his contemplation through the phone.
"It does sound like a decent plan; we'll just have to do it on the last night, so it won't look suspicious with us driving away."
"And we'll have to drive our own car, so no one thinks anything of it."
"Well, the only people coming will be myself and the Alpha. We don't need to take anyone else."
"We just need a meeting spot for the handover of the chains and then the handover of her."
"I can work that out a while. Where are we taking her once we have her?"
"We'll have to hold her somewhere near our pack, but far enough away that Aaron won't find her if he comes looking. Once we have her secure, I'll let the smugglers know, they'll take care of her transport from there. Since they deal with creatures like her, they'll be able to keep her quiet and out of sight. You'll have to play along for a while and put Aaron on the trail of Cal. That's the only way to make sure he kills him."
"I know, I'm aware of that."
"Fine, then we have our plan."
"Okay, I have to go back to where I was before she notices I'm gone."
"I'll call you again once I figure out who this Heather person is."
"Good." James hung up the phone, and I went back into the training area. It looked like Justin was done sparring with Sierra and some other young warriors were taking turns.
"Hey, where the he** did you go?" Justin asked, coming up next to me.
"Sorry, I had a phone call I had to take."
"Your mom?" he asked.
"What?"
"Was it your mom on the phone? You've said before you guys have been able to talk more since last year."
"Oh, right. Yeah, she just wanted to catch up and see how I was doing."
"Still crazy what she did for us last year. She's an amazing witch."
"Yeah, you've got that right."
"If only he knew just how amazing she was."
"So, who won?" I asked him about the fight with Sierra.
"Oh man, she kicked my a** hard!" We both laughed, as I tried to keep the conversation as far away from my phone call as possible. No one seemed to be suspecting anything and I was happy my emotions were not getting the best of me and giving me away. Keeping anxiety and tension out of my head was difficult at times, but I managed.
"Austin, come on! They wanna see us fight!" Sierra yelled in my direction.
"Coming!" I called, slapping Justin on the back. I took my jacket off, leaving it on a bench as I went to meet Sierra in the middle of the floor. This would be a good practice run for anything that happened later. She smiled at me, as her eyebrows raised. Sweat slid down her forehead as she got into her defensive stance.
"Ready?" she asked, a cocky air to her voice.
"Oh, you have no idea," I sneered, preparing to lunge at her.
