Sam and I continued eating our breakfast. Gideon asked for another roll before drinking his milk. Soon as we were done, I cleaned the kitchen while Sam tried to put her son to sleep in her arms.
Half an hour later, Sam and I were in the living room, sharing beer cans while Gideon was napping in his pram.
“Now tell me, what’s bothering you?” I asked Sam. I could see the worry in her eyes. I might know some of it from Mendez.
Sam took a sip of her beer before inhaling a deep breath. “I don’t exactly know what I feel…” she paused, breathing out, “After returning here, I just don’t know what my life means aside from being a mom to Gideon,”
