I said I would never be back.
I said that last time I stepped off the Yellow Moon Clan lands, would be the last time I would ever set foot there.
I didn’t even go to that weird human Christmas celebration dinner that Kari organized or the New Year’s celebration that they all did at Damian’s castle. Kari tried to bribe me with words like champagne and karaoke. None of it worked.
She would be there. I know she would be there, I mean it would be in her frieken house since she lives in the castle.
Nope, I was going to stay the farthest away from her as I could.
I did good, staying away for almost half a year now. I was proud of myself. I was living.
If you can call what I was doing living. I might have just been going through the motions of living, but I was trying.
During those months, I made sure to make changes.
I grew out my hair and facial hair. I was one of the best Elite Guard Members of the vampire clans, working under my father. I had honed and nourished my gift. I was just as good as my father. I even went out with a few females. I was slowly doing my best to get along with my life.
Even though I never drank her blood, I knew Fae was my mate. I could feel it when she was near me. Even though for my kind, we find our mates through drinking their blood, Fae would never allow me to. She is a wolf and they find their mates through sparks felt by being in contact with their mates. I felt those sparks and I know she did too. No matter how hard she fought them.
I still remember the first time we met, almost two years ago.
I was kind of kidnapped by the Yellow Moon Clan. Well, kidnapped is a little stretch for we were granted access to the wolf lands and castle when no other vampire had been allowed to be, but I was mostly there to protect Karime, my best friend. That girl didn’t need any protection unless you count protection from herself because she could get us into all kinds of troubles.
But anyway, so I see this omega girl serving us our food at the first meal we had in the castle. She was short, this with a round face and big round eyes. Her hair was cut short and her skin was light brown. I noticed her checking me out but would quickly look away when I would catch her. Being the flirt I was back then, I would send her winks and see her cute cheeks turn red from embarrassment.
As the days would pass and Karime would spend more time with her newfound mate Damian, yeah, I know, the first Vamp/Wolf mating in our magical world, but they are another story. Anywho, as I spent less time with my childhood friend, I always found ways to chat with Fae. I loved to see her blush when she was near me. I would always make her so nervous, she was so innocent.
In the beginning, I was just playing with the Omega, teasing her and such because like the selfish d**k I was, I always saw the wolves as nothing but filthy dogs and felt that our race was superior to them. That was until I got to know their Alpha Damian and Marcos and I was surprised by how fast they grew on me. To be straight up honest, The Yellow Moon clan were even better than our own clan, they all looked out for each other and helped one another. I saw it many times while I was staying with them.
Fae was the epitome of generosity. She was always helping everyone. From the omega cook to Karime herself. She is a fine female and I was attracted to her almost from the start. Occasionally she would brush my hand as she laid a plate down in front of me or accidentally bump my arm as she passed and that’s when I would feel those famous sparks that the werewolves would go on and on about. I felt them with her and I felt them I knew she had to aswell. I would look up at her and her eyes would dilate or she would hiss. Then she would quickly apologize quietly and runoff.
Finally, I cornered her in the garden, where she was planting some flowers. I sneaked up behind her and she threw a fist in my direction, which with my vampire dodging-speed I was able to step away unscathed. It seemed to surprise her that it was me.
“Wow...easy there tiger,” I had said to her.
“Sir Demetrio. I’m so sorry. Please forgive me,” She had said, quickly standing up and brushing the dirt from her apron.
“What the hell are you apologizing for, female, I was the one who scared the s**t out of you. I should be the one saying I’m sorry.” I said to her.
She smiled shyly. “None, of that Sir Demetrio, what can I help you with?”
“Well first, stop calling me Sir Demetrio. Not that I don’t dig it and could easily get used to it but please just call me Dem. Second, I was hoping I could take you out sometime, I know you also feel this attraction between us.” I had said to her boldly.
She quickly looked away but smiled.
“See, I know I am right about this. Not that I know many places to go on a date around here but how about we have dinner or something.” I had asked her.
“I don’t know, Sir..” she started but then quickly stopped when I raised an eyebrow, “I mean Dem. I don’t know if that would be a good idea. I must admit I find you very intriguing but I don’t think my bother would approve,”
“Your brother?” I asked incredulously. “How old are you, again? I mean you look old enough to make your own decisions about who you go out with don’t you think.” I said to her.
She smiled up at me, “Well, yes I am quite old enough to date but my brother, Patrick is a little overprotective.”
“Patrick? As in Gamma Patrick?” I had asked her.
“Yes, Gamma Patrick. Got a problem with that leech?” growled the Gamma behind me.
Fuck! I remembered turning around and staring the cocky bastard down.
“Fae, get inside!” he had ordered her.
I looked back at her and she quickly gave me an apologetic smile then gave her brother a glare and ran inside the castle.
“Damn, man. If you say jump, does she do that too.” I said to him sarcastically.
“I am not going to kill you because Luna Karime seems to care about you, but let me tell you this only once. Stay the f**k away from my sister!” he growled at me.
Before I could respond he gave me one last glare then walked around the side of the castle.
I should have fucken listened to him.
Now here I am. Almost two years later and I am physically on my way back to the Yellow Moon clan.
“You are awfully quiet, Dem,” Victoria, the Dragon Princess says next to me.
We are driving to the Yellow Moon Clan, to seek out the advice of their friendly witches.
“I hate that I have no other choice but to go back there,” I admit.
“I know what you mean,” she sighs.
“What do you mean, you know? You leave your mate over at the Yellow Moon Clan, too?” I asked with a roll of my eyes.
She stayed silent and didn’t answer but the grim look on her face told me otherwise.
“You have to be f*****g kidding me? What is it with that clan, the goddesses are treating them like Match.com or some s**t like that? Damn!” I yelled in exasperation.
Victoria laughed next to me, “You got it bad for that Omega don’t you.”
“Yeah, I f*****g do. Here I thought I was doing good without her.” I laughed at my own stupidity.
“Don’t give up on her, Dem. We’re going back, take this opportunity to talk with her.” Victoria said to me.
“f**k that! We are going for infomration and help and thats it. As soon as we get the cure to help Jasper, I am getting my ass out of there.” I said to her and I almost believed it.
“Yeah, you keep kidding yourself,” she said to me.
“What about you then? Are you going to take this wonderful opportunity to talk to your mate? Who is he anyway?” I ask her, to try to get her off the subject of Fae and me.
“I am sooo not telling you,” she said with a smile.
“Come on? I can’t be worse than having Patrick as a f*****g brother-in-law,” I say to her.
Her eyes look up to me quickly.
That made me click two and two together.
“f**k! No f*****g way! Patrick! It’s Patrick?” I say in shock.
She doesn’t answer but her silence is answered enough.
“Well, looks like we are both f****d,” I sigh.
“Pretty much,” she answers.
We stop at the border where three wolf warriors meet us.
“Let’s get this over with,” I growl as I move to open the door of the black Audi.
“Dem,” Victoria stops me, by putting a hand on my arm.
“Don’t tell anybody about Patrick and me?” she says.
“You mean like don’t tell Patrick’s girlfriend, Kate. The witch we are here to ask help from.” I say sarcastically.
“Stop being an ass,” Victoria growls.
“I’m sorry. I just hate that we have to be here. But don’t sweat it. I won’t say anything to anybody. You have my word,” I promise her.
“Thanks,” Victoria says with a sad smile.
We both get out of the car and walk to the guards.
“Sir Dem, Princess Victoria. The Alpha wasn’t expecting you. Welcome!” the guard I recognize as Brandon says to us.
“Yeah, this is kinda an impromptu trip, Bran. You good if we pass through.” I say, shaking his had.
“Yes, Sir. I have already mind linked the Alpha. He and Luna Karime are waiting for you at the castle.” he says to us with a smile. “Do you have any luggage, we need to bring for you?”
“Just a couple of bags in the back seat. Thanks, man.” I say to him.
“Our pleasure, Sir Demetrio. Welcome back,” Brandon says and walks to the car.
We walk onto the pack lands.
To the one place on earth, I don’t want to be.
