Chapter 4Sandy’s was in an old steel building that had started out as a cabinetry factory back in the 1940s. It had been abandoned for decades until Sandy Cooper arrived in town and bought it for a steal, pun intended. She’d put a lot of work into the place, inside and out, and when she’d opened it three years ago as a bar and grille, it had quickly become a local favorite. She’d brought in an old friend as the head chef, and he was a genius with food. At some point, she’d added a dance floor, and soon, when Friday night rolled around, it became the place to be in town. During the week, they still served lunch and dinner, and of course the bar was almost always open, but the energy completely changed on the weekends. They featured live music, drinking, and dancing—not to mention their kil
