Carolina Santorini was a mafia princess and a very spoiled one at that. Her father Carlos Santorini indulged his daughter’s every whim because she was after all the apple of his eye and her mother’s pride and joy as she was an exquisite blonde beauty with blue baby doll looking eyes who had been paraded around since her birth for people to admire. She had a natural Italian aptitude and attitude for the mafia world and it’s life style, she revelled in it.
She wasn’t embarrassed about having all the attention on her, in fact Carolina made it a point to destroy anyone who knowingly and unknowingly took the spotlight away from her.
The glances that Finn kept throwing at Reese were not hidden to her as she carried on dancing on the floor. She grabbed Finn’s hands and placed them on her waist then snaked her arms around his neck and manoeuvred him so that she now had the view of Reese and Bonnie who were giggling and dancing. Carolina couldn’t understand what was attracting her fiancé to this girl.
Carolina had met Finn about two years ago at a club similar to this one and when she had learned that he was a Mafia royal just like her with an even more powerful family, she wanted to get to know more about him. It was a good start that her family was not at war with his, she made it her mission to make sure her father started to do business with his because her father was a very well respected business man as well. She slowly introduced the idea of bringing the two families together to her father by suggesting an engagement. Her father who had been looking for ways to make his new found partnership with Silas Salvatore a permanent one thought it was a brilliant idea to cement the relationship by giving his beloved daughter away to his son, Finn Salvatore.
A lot of Mafia children were cajoled into arranged marriages anyway, Carolina had found and picked her own future husband. Finn’s family was more powerful than hers meaning that her lifestyle would be even grander than it already was, it was a bonus point that he was very good looking and she had fallen in love him. Carolina couldn’t wait to be the Mafia queen of New York and she would be damned if she let the lowly help swoop in and distract Finn from their future goals, which was being the most powerful and feared couple to run the city.
Bonnie and Reese danced with every song that seemed to come on, enjoying themselves while they talked to one another, slowly getting to know one another as friends. Reese really liked Bonnie’s open nature, she talked about her relationship with Kayden, and how they had met at one of Finn’s high school parties because her father also worked for the Salvatores. Reese was shocked to hear her describe her brother as something totally different to what she knew and she shared that with Bonnie.
“I think something in him changed when he realised how much your father and uncle cared about you.” Bonnie shared something that Kayden had told her. “He is not proud of his old attitude towards you and I promise you he really means it when he says he’s sorry.” She added.
Reese didn’t know what to say but she thought about the words and smiled.
Kayden walked up behind Bonnie and grabbed her by the waist, he pulled her towards him and kissed her on her cheek.
“Baby sis do you mind if I steal her away for a moment?” he winked at his sister.
“No not at all.” Reese smiled. “I will head on back to the VIP area.” Reese assured him. Kayden grabbed her hand and pulled her in for a hug then let go quickly.
“What was that for?” She smiled at him.
“Can’t a guy just hug his little sister?” He chuckled and Reese blushed. They walked off and she was about to walk away when a guy approached her and grinned at her.
“Hey there beautiful.” He smiled coyly at her. Reese was about to give him attitude but she remembered how her father and uncle had thought that she needed to be babysat today because she didn’t have friends in New York, they thought she needed help making friends and she found that quite embarrassing. How would she make friends if she was always being passive aggressive.
“Hi, is that your best pick up line?” She flashed him a smile.
“Well it seems to be working on you isn’t it?” He grinned making his grey eyes light up.
She couldn’t help but give him a look up and down, letting her eyes travel over his tall athletic build but she blushed as she looked back into his eyes. He raked his blonde hair as he kept smiling.
“So do I tick all the boxes?” He grinned wickedly at her.
“You missed a few but maybe your personality will make up for it.” She joked making him laugh out loud.
“I like you, very witty. May I have this dance.” He dramatically bowed and offered up his hand which she took as she smiled. “I am Damon Mahoney by the way.”
“I’m Reese, Reese Hughes.” She shared
His hands went to her waist and he drew her a little closer as they began to move. At first Reese felt uncomfortable since she didn’t really like being touched but she forced herself to ignore the feeling and just go with it. She thought he was a pretty good dancer as he matched her rhythm, if there was one thing Reese loved to do it was dance and listen to music, she and her high school friends had taught themselves how to dance by watching music videos and dance movies trying to imitate the styles and moves. She had proven to be quite good at it.
“You move like you went to dance school.” He complemented her, she blushed and decided to put her hands around his neck. He smiled and drew her even closer until there was barely any space between them.
The song ended and she pulled away gently
“Do you maybe want to get a drink? All that dancing you have been doing must have you parched.” He threw another line in and she pretended to wince.
She giggled at him. “Cheesy much? Keep trying though and yes I’d like that drink.”
He chuckled and offered her his hand which she was about to take when Finn came out of nowhere and stood in front of them.
Finn tried really hard to keep his eyes off Reese but how could he when she came in to the club looking like the Cinderella of the dance floor. The way the dress clung to her body hugging at her curves made it difficult for him to focus. It wasn’t just the dress though, when she smiled as she danced Finn wanted to know what was making her smile like that, she had an infectious smile that seemed to light up her startling green eyes. He wasn’t the only one that seemed to be taken by her even though she was oblivious to the stares she was getting on the dance floor as she sensually moved her hips next to Bonnie.
He watched Kayden walk towards them then walk away with Bonnie then a guy that he really disliked walked up to Reese and asked her to dance. At this point Finn had signalled for Carolina to go back to the VIP section but she just stood next to him watching the irritation build up on his face which didn’t help her own mood.
When Reese put her hands around Damon’s neck, Finn clenched his jaw but what made his blood boil was when Damon drew her closer to him by her waist. It looked like they were about to walk away when Finn decided he had had enough.
“She’s not going anywhere with you Mahoney.” He said as he stood in front of them.
“And why is that?” Damon knew better than to challenge Finn Salvatore but tonight he had actually found a girl that seemed quite interesting and he wanted to leave with her.
“She’s with me..” Finn growled at Damon.
Reese was too stunned at the scene unfolding in front of her to speak. What was going on?
“Is she? Doesn’t seem like it to me” he smiled cockily and drew Reese closer to him by the waist.
“I said she’s with me.” Finn moved closer to them like he was ready to fight Damon.
“Excuse me I am not your property Finn Salvatore.” Reese hissed at him angrily.
“No but she’s under my protection.” Finn blatantly ignored Reese, making her even angrier.
Finn looked at his enemy with so much loathing in his eyes. The look on his face became murderous “And you are in my territory Damon… are we going to have a problem.” He added.
