"What are you doing here?" Brandon finally uttered, in a rather too loud and irritated voice. I jerked and rolled out of the bed, falling to the floor.
I groaned and stood up quickly. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize when we got drunk and slept off"
"This was the reason I was trying to avoid you and those drinks last night. Just leave my chamber. I do not want to see you" He spat.
I bowed and hurried to the door. While I was trying to open it, his voice stopped me.
"Your parents are healthy and alive. You know the deal we made last night, right? I want you to leave this pack, but I think it has already dawned. People might see you leaving, so once nightfall comes run away from this pack"
"You have my word," I forced a smile.
I decided to see my parents that day to stay with them since I was going to leave that night. I will miss them so much.
"Hold on…" Brandon's voice drifted and I faced him.
"What happened between us last night?" He questioned and I blinked fast.
"I can't remember. I was too drunk," I replied.
"Okay then, you may leave," He said, and I bowed one last time before finally leaving his chamber.
I ran to my room and prepared a small breakfast, which I ate. Afterwards, I washed myself up and wore a dress and shoes. I was preparing to go to my parent's place as I planned.
I requested a carriage but nothing came. When I asked the guard why no carriage was sent to me, as I asked.
He responded, "The Alpha King says we shouldn't do anything you ask today. We are sorry, but we have to follow his orders"
I sighed deeply and rolled my eyes. It was just the beginning. Without saying anything, I went outside and walked to the stable and wanted to take a horse, but the guards stopped me, telling me the exact thing the other one said.
I wondered why he thought I was the cause of his parents' deaths, but that was when it struck me, I could be the one at fault.
If only I stayed back home. If only I hadn't acted too close to The Luna back then, probably she wouldn't have asked for the picnic and the rogues would not have come to kill her. If she was still alive, her husband, Brandon's dad, would not have gotten a heart attack and likewise, he wouldn't have died.
For a while, I didn't blame Brandon. Maybe he was right. It's my fault. No wonder he tried to end my parents' life that night. The annoyance and jealousy he felt made him take that decision.
I was also glad he was able to hear my plea to keep my parents' lives, but only if I left the pack. He was tired and sick of my presence.
I brought his fury upon myself and my family. Thus, I need to leave the pack to rectify the situation.
Since I was deprived of getting horses from the stable and even my request for a means of transport, I decided to trek to my parent's home. I just needed to see them one last time.
It was a bit far, but thankfully, I got there, and they were pleased to see me. They quickly sat me down and got food from the kitchen.
"Why did you decide to see us? Were you missing us already?" My mother chuckled and I forced a smile.
"You should learn not to miss us. Instead, I would suggest you stay with your mate, the Alpha King. That way, you can get to know him better, get closer to him…" My father said, and I sighed.
"I will go back to him, you don't have to worry. I just decided to come here to see you two. Who knows when I will see you next because I'll be very busy soon with my royal activities and all" I said, and my parents exchanged glances, then nodded.
"Yes, you're right. Just eat. Eat a lot before you leave. I'm also certain you will miss your mother's delicacies" She smiled.
I smiled back and nodded. "You are right. It tastes very nice today. I still wonder what your secret recipe is. Why can't I make my food like yours or even better"
My mother laughed and patted my hair. "You can come home once in a while so that I can teach you more."
"Sure" I replied, trying to bottle my pains, with my eyes filled with tears.
At that moment, the door made a loud sound and opened widely, like it was about to fall off. We flinched and looked in the direction, only to see Brandon and his men walk in. Dennis, his friend, was beside him, and they all had one facial expression.
They look disappointed and angry.
"Your majesty? To what do I owe this sudden visit?" My father asked, bowing his head.
"Did you come to see your wife?" My mother teased, with a smile, nudging me to have physical contact with Brandon.
"Arrest her," Brandon finally uttered, and my eyes widened, bewildered by the whole situation.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked, quickly. My parents were looking puzzled.
"What are you waiting for!" Dennis barked at the men, who were moving quite slowly.
"You heard the Alpha! Arrest the Luna at once!" He added, and the man hastened their movement.
Before I could blink my eyes, my hands were tied with hard and tight ropes.
"Wait… What… What is happening? What are you doing? Stop at once!" I yelled, my orders were utterly disobeyed.
"I, the Luna, command you!" I bellowed, with annoyance.
"And I, the Alpha King, arrest you for conspiring with rogues to attack my mother, which led to her death and which eventually killed my father" Brandon said, strongly.
"What?" I whispered, surprised.
Dennis hissed as he yelled louder. "Take her away!"
