Chapter 4 - Let The Game Begin

Luke opened the car door for me, and I went in, still in a daze. My two friends were also in a haze when I looked at them. Luke stooped down and kissed me again, this time on my forehead. " I'll call you later, babe." He said and closed the door. No one moved. We are all so quiet and holding our breath. When Luke went back inside the restaurant, we looked at each other, and they both screamed to my surprise. " Holy s**t! You b***h! What was that?! I mean, can someone slap me? I think I'm going to lose it!" Natasha yelled and glared at me. " Stacy! Girl, you're a Goddess. How did you do that? How did you make that delicious man fall at your feet?!" Becky grabbed my shoulder and shook it. " Ladies, chill! I don't know what happened! I have a whiplash with the turn of events. I wasn't able to play hard to get. God! That man is a walking sin! I was like under a spell! I am in deep trouble, am I?" I turned to them, and they both nodded vigorously. " f**k!" I hissed. " Nat, let's go, or we won't have a job when we get back. We'll talk about this later and plan things out." I told Natasha, and she started the engine. Soon we are entering the office and go to our small offices. I sat on my chair and went through the whole event this afternoon in my head. What the hell did just happened? How could he turn the table on me? I was supposed to seduce him, not the other way around. I have to play my cards right. I can't blow this off. I need that promotion, and he is my ticket to get there. I shook my head and went ahead with my work. I opened my email and checked if there's anything urgent. After a few minutes, I was so into my emails when my phone beeped.  I grabbed it and opened the text. I was staring at the message trying to figure out who sent me this. " Hey, I miss you already. Are you back in your office?" It says. The number is not registered, so I was confused for a minute. Then it clicked! It must be from Luke. " Hey, you. Yes, I am back at my office. Thanks again for lunch." I replied and waited for his answer eagerly. " You don't miss me? :( " I smiled at his emoji. My God! Luke Davies is flirting with me! " I didn't say that ;) " I replied. " So, you do miss me? Missed me enough to meet me tonight and have dinner?" He texted back. I bit my lip and tried so hard not to squeal. " Tonight? What's the occasion?" I asked. " A celebration of meeting each other and a possible start of something amazing?" My face hurts from smiling so hard. Who's seducing who now? " Hmmm, can I think about it, and I'll back to you later? I need to finish work, and I need to check my schedule if I'm free tonight." I sent my reply and grinned from ear to ear. Let him wait and make him chase me. I know he's used to getting what he wants and when he wants. And he doesn't have to beg a woman to jump on his bed. But if he's stubborn, then he has just met his match. " Oh, okay, then I am so sorry to bother you. I will wait for your response. Please don't make me wait too long." He answered, and I smirked. " Got to go, Luke. I'll text you later, okay? Bye." I sent my last message and put down the phone with a satisfied smile on my face. If I play my cards right, Luke Davies will give me everything, including that interview. But for now, he doesn't have to know about the interview. I will tell him eventually, but I want him to trust me before asking him that favor. The only way to do that is to get close to him.  I finished my work with a big smile on my face. I was still smiling when my friends came to my office. They both looked at me like I suddenly grew two heads. " What's gotten you into a good mood, woman?" Nat asked and stared at me curiously. I shook my head and still smiled like a lunatic. " Girl, should we call the reverend and have you exorcised? You're losing it, girl." Becky added. I laughed and shook my head at them. " You two are of the same wavelength, always. I am happy! Can't I be happy?!" I asked them with raised brows. " You, being happy, and you, acting like you're possessed, are different, Stace. What gives?" Nat asked again and drummed her nails on my table. " You two are so persistent and suspicious. I am happy because I finished a lot of work today, that's it!" I told them with a smirk. " I'm not buying it, Stacy Morgan! I want the truth!" Natasha glared at me. I laughed and stood up. " God! You're annoying! Well, Mr. dreamboat texted me this afternoon and asking for dinner tonight." I finally admitted to them. At first, they were only staring at me, then looked at each other and shrieked. We were like kids jumping up and down and twirling around. " Oh my God! You're finally getting laid! Do you still know how to shag? It's been a century since you shagged someone." Becky asked with a laugh. I glared at her and rolled my eyes. " You're too advanced, becks. We are only having dinner, at a restaurant, not at a hotel, and he is not the menu, you crazy woman." I rolled my eyes at her. " Oh, darling, I know that you will soon be all over each other. The way you two looked at each other like you were each other's favorite dish. It's better to be ready than sorry, Stacy. Did you accept his invitation?" Becky replied. " Not yet. I want to play hard to get for a little bit." I bit my lip and smiled mischievously. " You sly dog! Okay, it's time for a make-over. Let's get that legs and p***y shaved!" Natasha dragged me out of my room, and we were laughing hard while walking towards the elevator. " Tell your man to come and pick you up at seven. We have two hours to do the magic on you. I hope you have decent underwear, or I will let you go commando." Natasha exclaimed. I blushed at her statement. They both know me so well, I may look like a sophisticated, trendy woman, but I don't buy things I don't want in reality. I am saving since I started at Metro Magazine. I want to open my own publishing company and be my boss. I want to buy a house by the beach and travel the world. I want to make something of myself and show the world that even an orphan girl has dreams. I texted Luke on the way to my apartment. I made it short and polite. I told him to pick me up at seven and sent him my address. He texted right away and said he couldn't wait to see me. Now, some of my cards are on the table, and it's time to play. Let the game begin.
