“I accept your challenge,” Kaspen said to his father while standing tall with his chest out.
“No, you’re not doing this,” Evelyn waved her arms in front of her urgently. “We’re in no position to take over and Kaspen was doing a great job up until recently. Every alpha has their rough patch.” The last month doesn’t reflect Kaspen as an alpha. He didn’t deserve to get that taken from him.
“If your ‘rough patch’ is over in a month then I’ll take back my challenge but if not then we fight,” Declan proposed.
“Fine by me,” Kaspen replied with nothing but confidence evident.
I watched Kaspen's parents leave then turned to him. I wasn’t sure what to say. I felt to blame for his performance in the last month. I was clearly a distraction. He sat down in the chair behind his desk and sighed.
