Chapter Five I totally wig when I hear the siren. My heart starts hammering away and my breath whistles through my nose. My first thought is that Heather has had a hissy fit and narced on us. I wonder if the cops will believe me when I tell them we’re just a bunch of pervy dykes on an outing. (Okay, bad pun.) I tell myself that it’s just a traffic stop, and if I lie real quiet, maybe the boys in blue won’t think to look in the back of the van. My stomach sinks when I feel the van start to slow and pull on to the shoulder. I wonder if any of us will do jail time. Dr. Cornell will lose her job for sure. Instead a miracle happens.
