Alyssa rocked back and forth on the balls of her bare feet as she hesitantly stood outside Dylan’s bedroom door. The wooden hallways was cold against the soles of her feet but her body felt warm. She felt embarrassed to be standing out here like an i***t. She could smell him on the other side and she needed to pluck up the courage to knock on his door. The truth was that she didn’t want to be alone tonight. She’d opened up to Dylan earlier today and it had given way to a myriad of past memories she’d rather completely forget. Odd how opening up even a little bit broke the dam she’d carefully constructed to hide her emotions and block her worst memories.
