“From what I heard, you did a damned good job,” Lieutenant Harber said when Lou came into his office. “And even avoided getting shot in the process.”
Lou nodded, taking a seat when Harber motioned toward it. “Rory Kinley gave his statement, and among other things, he said Hanks as much as admitted he killed Elliot Manning.”
“Good, although it might be considered hearsay evidence in court. That will be up to a judge to decide. But we have Hanks on enough other charges that he’s not going to be walking free any time soon.”
“I hope. If he makes bail…”
“We’ll see what happens during his arraignment.” Harber looked thoughtfully at Lou then abruptly changed the subject. “Are you interested in moving up to detective? You’ve been on the force long enough to do so.”
