Ruth looked at her strangely, almost sympathetically, but before she could answer Nessa’s question, the doorbell rang. “I’ll get that. Nessa, we’ll talk about this later,” she assured her, and left her room. A while later, Nessa heard a pair of footsteps walking towards her room. Thanks to her improved hearing, she heard the voices of the people they belonged to. The very people she hoped to avoid. At least until her mind cleared up. She opened her window, looked around and found Niall’s car parked in the front yard. Sucking in a breath, she jumped out and landed firmly on her feet. Looking back at the window to her room, she smiled at herself in satisfaction. The buzzing in her ears faded as she jogged to the hotel. The sky was clear that day and the air felt warmer, like summer. B
