Chapter 1

Chapter 1 

Aria’s POV 

I wake to my alarm letting me know it's time to get up for my last day of high school. I hop out of bed and head into the bathroom to get ready. I’m excited to end this chapter in my life and head off to college to pursue my dreams of being a veterinarian! I have wanted to work with animals my whole life and my parents always said if I work hard and get good grades I could be whatever I wanted. I shower quickly and head into my room to pick an outfit. I decide on a pale blue summer dress with small white and pink flowers on it pairing it with some white strappy sandles. I head back into the bathroom brushing out my long dark brown hair letting it fall into its natural curls. I decide on some simple make-up and grab my book back running down the stairs. 

“Bye Mom, bye Daddy!” I say giving them each a kiss on the cheek 

“Have a good last day hun” Mom replies 

“Princess, I need you home right after school” My father says in a serious tone. 

“Ok daddy” I reply knowing better than to put up an argument 

I run out the door, my best friend Brianna is waiting in her car to drive us. 

“Morning Bri!” 

“Hey Aria! I can’t believe this is our last day of high school!” She squeals driving off towards the school. We arrive to the school in 5 minutes and head over to our lockers meeting up with our other friends McKenzie and Harper. The day goes by fast there wasn’t much for actual class work just a lot of end of the year fun. We are having lunch right now then the end of the year gathering before the day ends. I grab my salad and a sprite and head over to our table. 

“Aria I'm having all the girls over to my house after school for some end of the year fun before graduation tomorrow are you coming?” McKenzie asked 

“That sounds fun, I have to go home first my father said I needed to be home straight after school. But I'm sure I can come over later!” I reply  

“What does he want you home for?” 

“I have no clue” I reply shrugging my shoulders 

The ceremony was long but fun, kids got awards for various reason and the principle handed out scholarships people had gotten and talked about which seniors had been accepted to which colleges. I felt so proud when he announced to the entire school that I had been accepted to Cornell for Veterinary Medicine. I have worked so hard my entire life to get accepted into that school and I made it! My mother was so excited when I got the acceptance letter she cried. My father acted a little weird didn’t say much but mom said he was probably just sad about me leaving for college.  

After the ceremony my friends and I all headed out the door for the last time I gave them all hugs and said I’d see them later after I went home and checked in with my parent. Brianna dropped me off at home. I was so busy talking to her about our plans later I hadn’t noticed the two big black suvs in our driveway until I was by the door. That’s odd I say to myself. I open the front door and set my bag down to see my father standing there waiting for me. 

“Aria come with me please” he says in a serious tone. He has me nervous, my father has always been kind and loving. He was the best father a girl could ask for. Things changed a little a few years ago when his company went under and he was bought out. He sold his shares of the company because he didn’t have any other choice but he always assured me my college find would remain untouched. We head into the living room. My mother is sitting on the couch with tears in her eyes, her face all red a puffy. She has been crying. I look at her with a questioning look but don’t say anything. Standing next to the chair is a man I have never seen before, he looks young not like he would be a friend of my parents. Maybe mid to late 20s. He is very handsome but very intimidating looking. He looks to be very fit under his maroon dress shirt. He had a tan completion black hair that was shorter on the sides and a little longer on top. 

“Aria this is Mr. Luca Rossi” My father says 

“Hello sir” I say quietly 

“He is to be your husband” My father says like its nothing. Like its normal
