Chapter 7: His Sunday

2355 Words
On the morning of Sunday, I barely had time to eat as I was already roaming the woods in my wolf form a few minutes after waking up. Sniffing and scanning every single area, all of my senses were heightened to their greatest extent. My head immediately turned to the right when somewhere in between the tall trees, a scream of a woman erupted and I was already pacing to get to where the distress sound was coming from. It was not often for trouble to happen in our woods as everyone knew our pack was the strongest - filled with wolves left and right wherever you turned, barricaded to a point that no one could ever surpass, my father made sure this was a safe place. But sometimes, when we least expect it, or when someone leaves their post unattended because they were doing something stupid, any enemy who would be waiting for their chance to get in would see that as an opportunity and immediately attack. That is what me, my brother, and the other wolves were for who were often tasked to roam. We were more vigilant as we sensed things faster and could get to a place a few seconds before anyone else could. In less than twenty seconds, I was already in the area where the scream had come from, my heart racing as I tried to figure out what was wrong and who had made the sound since there was nothing but leaves in my sight. Was it just my imagination? It couldn’t be. I was never wrong when it came to these things. My brother and I were taught to be the best of the best and of course, I was in the running for being the future Alpha. If I didn’t have my company going for me, I would be the rightful heir to the title, but since I did, that was all Marcus’. I felt an unnerving tingle in my body when I sniffed and a scent that seemed familiar to me got my attention. Just as I was turning to face where the smell was coming from, I heard a branch crack and as soon as I managed to turn around, I immediately connected the dots of the whole situation. A woman screaming as if in distress in the middle of the woods so I could come and check it out? I should have known there was no imminent danger, but still, the urge to make sure things were going fine in my pack was strong and overpowered the possibility of me being fooled instead. “And so we meet again.” Sienna seductively exclaimed as she began to get closer to me, her human form looking like an ant beside me in all of my great big and black wolf stature. I could smash her into pieces with just one swift movement of my hand, but that would just cause more harm than good. Her father, Beta Sergio, was a good man and very respectable. Too bad his daughter grew up to not be the same. Because of my conclusion to not let any harm get to her, albeit unwillingly, I forced myself to stand still, tightly closing my eyes as I learned to calm myself down with my breathing. My eyes immediately shot open when I felt something warm on my right side and I opened it to see Sienna with her entire body wrapped around my leg like a koala, making sure to let her bare skin against my fur and began to gently brush it. I wasn’t going to lie, the pleasure you get from physical intimacy was good. It felt like floating in the clouds or the water as you let your whole body slowly be taken away. It was like your first drop of water after being trapped in the desert for ten years. It was like having all of your senses awakened as something strong ignites inside of you. But I was in no need for that basic type of pleasure. The one thing I craved for was pleasure from closing a deal, from overtaking a company, from being the smartest in the game. A loud growl escaped me as I flung my right leg in which Sienna had attached herself, but with one movement in which I barely even used my energy on, she flew a few inches to the ground. “Ah!” She squealed in shock and probably pain, but I was in no mood to turn my head back and look at her. I did not have time for any of her games and other bullshit. If I continued to let her think that she could touch me whenever she wanted, this would become more troublesome in the future when I come over on the weekends. Can someone give this wretched woman a mate already so she’d leave me alone? I let out an annoyed noise before pushing my feet off the ground and in a split second, I was already pacing my way to another part of the woods. The wind blowing in my face refreshing me instantly and I had already forgotten Sienna was even there a few moments ago. She’ll get over it soon enough as well. I spotted my brother near the gates we were tasked to reinforce, but as soon as I was about to move further, I immediately stopped in my tracks when someone else came out to be beside him. Cristina. My brother’s mate. She was in her human form and was obviously flirting around with Marcus, gently massaging his fur although she could barely reach him. “Every time your brother is here I feel a little agitated.” Cristina spoke up and I am instantly intrigued with what she has to say, slightly moving myself to the side to hide myself behind the trees as if my big self could even be hidden. “Why?” My brother replied to her as he continued to carry big hollow blocks for the gate. That’s a good response, I thought to myself. Why did Cristina even feel agitated around me? After I stayed in line and flirted with those hormonal girls just for her darned cinnamon candles, she dared to talk behind my back? I almost snarled at her, but I managed to contain myself before letting out any sound, realizing that I needed to keep quiet. “Marcus… you know why.” She continued to speak as her eyes began to look around, turning her head left and right and all around her as if trying to check if there were any others. It seemed she didn’t do a good job at that as I was still behind the same tree, listening in on them. “Come on, babe. It’s just Maximo. He used to pee on his bed as a kid.” Marcus replied and the two let out a chuckle. As soon as I heard his response, I was ready to move out of the trees and jump him out of annoyance. My brother and I hadn’t gotten into a fight in a long while. The last one was probably before I left for New York and our father forced us to fight to assert power from the Alpha’s sons. Bloodied, bruised, and tired. Our fight was almost running up to two hours and all over the woods but we kept on going. Almost coming up to the three hour mark, I had broken Marcus’ leg while he had broken my arm. Just as we were getting ready to somewhat do our last hit that would inevitably hurt the hell out of both of us but also decide who the winner was, our mother came and stopped it all. She was not amused at what we had done at all and it was all over before it could end. No one knows who could have won, but let’s be honest, there was no way Marcus could have beat me with his broken leg. Maybe this time we could finally prove once and for all who the strongest Wolff was next to our father. A mischievous smirk formed on my lips and just as I was supposed to lunge on my brother, he spoke up. “But seriously, he’s alright. Can be such an i***t sometimes, but I love that i***t to bits.” I felt frozen at my brother’s words. Sure we fought a lot, could argue at the littlest things, never see eye to eye most of the time, would probably smash each other’s bones and still keep fighting, and loathed each other’s existence. But at the end of the day, we were still brothers. For what seemed like just a second, Marcus was born after I was and since then, we grew up inseparable. We learned the same things, fought the same enemies, and struggled with almost the same challenges. I was there for him all throughout just as he was for me. The only time we actually separated was when he found his mate and I didn’t. Focusing on my studies and determination to get to New York, the last time we actually got time with one another, as in just the two of us, was a long time ago. My thoughts were interrupted when I accidentally stepped on a branch and this created a noise that made both my brother and Cristina turn to me with a shocked look, Marcus ready to pounce on whoever it might be. Maximo? He mind-linked to me and I instantly had to figure out how to get myself out of the awkward situation that is them assuming I was eavesdropping on their conversation, which was true, but of course they didn’t need to know that. I cleared my throat as I stepped out from behind the tree, walking casually and with my head held high as I usually did. Confidence is what I had, and I always flaunted it. Marcus. Cristina. I looked at both of them before continuing to make my way to the big gate that we needed to fix. I sensed Marcus was going to say something, but before he could, I found a block next to me and instantly grabbed it, throwing it to him with one quick movement before he could speak up. Think fast! I linked to him as a giant block began flying in mid air going straight at him. Marcus was easily able to catch it, just as I expected. Good job, little bro. I commented with a small smile and he rolled his eyes at the way I called him my little brother, but I knew from the faint smile that formed on his lips that he was touched by the short comment. From morning to night - me, my brother, and some other wolves carried blocks and carefully placed them all over the wide gate at the edge of our woods in order to keep the pack even safer. There have been no threats as far as I’ve known, but it was much better to be safe than sorry. During that time, my brother and I were also somewhat able to bond. In between all the tedious work, jokes and stories here and there were exchanged and it was as if we were back in our room when we were little kids. After Sunday’s dinner time, which consisted of werewolves of each rank creating havoc in the table outside by the woods, food that lasted for at least forty seconds, and Sienna trying her best to steal glances at me that I immediately rejected - it was time to get back to the city. As soon as I got back to my apartment, I put all the food my mother had given to me in my refrigerator. Costing me around ten thousand dollars, this limited edition stainless steel, fully automated, and state of the art smart refrigerator immediately began to scan all the food I was taking in so it could be registered in its database. Pasta, pasta, pasta, tomato sauce, cheese, more cheese, capers, olives, basil, every little thing I needed to make a buffet for myself. My mother wanted me to eat like a king whenever I was away, and I was absolutely not complaining. Bringing home her cooking and recipes was probably one of my favorite things to do after a weekend at home and another tiring long drive back to the city. For some reason, driving back felt way longer than the other and after a tiring day, I was completely out of energy. Once I finished fixing all the food in the refrigerator, I made my way to my bathroom, one by one taking off my clothes. Before entering the shower, I turned around and saw the mess I had created. A trail of my clothes were all over the living room to my bedroom - shoes, socks, pants, underwear, my coat, and shirt. “It’s a damn good thing you’re rich and have a housemaid to clean all that up, Maximo.” I said with a pleased smile before entering the shower. As the water trickled down my bare body, I let out a deep exhale. Cold and refreshing, this was exactly what I needed before I slept for a few hours. Or in this case, four hours until I needed to wake up for Monday. And Monday meant back to the office.
